About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore the world... one vegetable patch at a time!

ABOUT ME

I love freedom! Since quitting my job as a graphic designer last August I have been loving life and new adventures. Although my adventures so far have ony taken me across the uk, I'm hoping that over the next few years I will branch out of my comfort zones and explore the world!!!! I'm very much into creativity and crafts, laughing, watching good films, listening and creating music, meeting new people and finding new perspectives on life.

PHILOSOPHY

carpe diem, live life for the moment and enjoy every single minute!!! I don't always do it but I try!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've not couchsurfed or been a host as of yet - I am however hoping our upcoming trip to Norway will be my first and then who knows, I have plans for exploring so I'm hoping that will involve cs. Plus, soon we'll be able to host on the boat!!

Interests

I love anything creative, drawing, painting (although I'm not very good), sewing, making anything myself. I've learnt how to spin wool and do basic weaving and I would really like to get more of the forgotten crafts like basket making. I love reading, watching good films, being outside and any kind of farm work. I loved the wwoofing I did last year, I loved the animals (which turned me veggie), planting, learning... it was just awesome! MUSIC was a big part of my life before we went wwoofing, I was in bands, I love to sing and I attempt to play the guitar, keyboard and clarinet. Ultimately I love learning and asking questions, and I'm very easily interested in talking to anyone who is passionate about their interests!

Music, Movies, and Books

I've just been getting back into my reading after reading some good books by James Frey, enjoyed some bukowski, read some good old fashioned sci-fi which is excellent, I read the Dharma Bums whilst wwoofing, as well as 1984. I'm reading Little Dorrit by Dickens at the moment which is great but I'm looking forward to something a little less heavy!!!

I love most types of music really, I got into Tom Waits whilst I was away, and decided to do a bit of music shopping at xmas, some oldies were in order - Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Byrds. I've been listening to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd LPs... its great to find things that have been around for years that I havn't discovered yet!!!

Movies! I love my movies, anything from good old cheesy american poo to foreign films and anime! I got addicted to studio ghibli for a while but have recently been enjoying some french films... I love how in foreign films the language is just so emotive...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went for some amazing walks whilst I was wwoofing, one in particular was over Dartmoor in Sept/Oct. It was fairly warm and I went with Toby and a friend of his from uni - we took instruments and walked along singing and playing. The walk took us miles... we stopped and sat and watched the sunset over the hills, it was stunning. As we walked back the clouds dropped into a valley and it felt like we were miles up in the sky, or that we were on Laputa. The colours and images I remember in my mind are just beautiful... and they'll always be there...

One other memory, or vision I think really, has been the snow. Living in Dorset has meant I've not had many memories of snow. Since new years eve, I've seen a bundle of it, a road trip to Lampeter in Wales, an escape mission from my parents near Bournemouth, and getting to Milton Keynes. Such big flakes floating through the sky, falling like feathers, I love it... snow is so beautiful.

I'm hoping that I'll have many more amazing memories by this time next year!

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to be a graphic designer - the design work and artworker side I really anjoyed and I am a dab hand at the Adobe Creative Suite - any technical advice is no problem from me - I even had to sort out a problem once that even Adobe couldn't fix (true story... not funny!). So any advice or help I can give on that side of things is no problem!! :)
