Overview
About Me
I am a Kansas girl, so hospitality is in my blood. My favorite aspect of traveling is the conversations I have and the people I meet along the way: I have always loved meeting new people, making friends from around the world and learning about other cultures/ways of life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My first couchsurfing experience was beyond positive. I met incredible people, made friends I'll keep for a lifetime and got to know a new city. It left me wanting more time with my new friends, but more importantly, with the hope that I could do the same for someone else down the road.
Interests
I study design, so I have a HUGE appreciation for the art, architecture, and design world. Let's go to a gallery, museum, or showroom and talk about
I'm a pretty avid sports fan, (GO ROYALS, GO CHIEFS, GO KU) but not one that gets stuck on a couch. I grew up active and well versed in most sports (soccer, volleyball, tennis and basketball specifically) so any activity or sporting event is fun for me. I'd be happy to play or watch just about anything with you. Bar sports count, so if you fancy a game of play pool or darts, we could do that too.
I love reading and my favorite place to shop is a bookstore. I'm up for quiet nights in or fun nights out, so let me know what you're feeling and I can be flexible with just about anything you want to get into.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a fan of live music and enjoy just about any kind. Just not that into metal.
Like I said, I love to read. Some of my recent favs: The Circle by David Eggers, Our Man in Havana by Graham Greene and Me Talk Pretty Someday by David Sedaris. Classics? To Kill A Mockingbird, Pride and Prejudice and The Great Gatsby.
I'm not sure why, but I adore going to the movies. Maybe it's the popcorn and surround sound, but I'm always game for a good flick.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just visited Cuba, which was a surreal experience. I made a book about it and you can check it out here: https://www.behance.net/gallery/30765531/The-Havanas-A-Typographic-Journal

EXPLORE
I grew up in the Midwest and love this part of me. Because I'm a Kansas native, I know a lot about the state and would be happy to venture to other areas. If you want to see what truly makes Kansas beautiful, we can drive through the Flint Hills to my hometown and have a small town experience! Kansas City is only a 40 minute drive away and I go there often. KC BBQ is a must, so if you don't go with me while you're in town, YOU HAVE TO TRY IT! I to I love to take photos, so I could even show you a little bit about landscape photography. Kansas is pretty photogenic, so you could go home with some incredible images of sunsets. :)
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
I know of great places to trail run, hike, mountain bike, or road bike in the country if you like being outside. I used to manage a local outdoor and bike shop, so I'd be able to get us all bikes if necessary.
GET CRAFTY
I have plenty of art supplies from being a graphic designer, so if you like getting crafty and if you're hoping for a quiet night with some paint, calligraphy, watercolors, pastels, or charcoal - I've got you covered. Photography is a huge hobby of mine as well, so I'd be happy to take you out for some photo excursions.
What I Can Share with Hosts
LOCATION
Lawrence is a college town, so there is plenty to do for entertainment. I live within walking distance of downtown and the campus, so you'd be in prime location for bars, exploring, concerts, great restaurants and movies.
There's a large variety of restaurants and bars downtown. While I'm not a huge partier, I'd be happy to take you out for a great night of food, drinks, talking, dancing and fun. We have a local brewery, a speakeasy, and some great pubs - you name it and we can check it out.
Lawrence is close enough to Kansas City if you need a ride from the airport.
