ABOUT ME

I am from New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Texas after Hurricane Katrina. I lived in the Austin, Texas area for about 10 years with a year in Durango, CO. I was an endurance athlete in High school and College doing cross country, cycling, swimming, triathlon (off-road and on), duathlon and the occasional adventure race. About half way through college I switched over to just doing rock climbing and play boat kayaking for enjoyment. I also did a summer stay in Navato, CA and Boulder, CO I’m pretty banged up (multiple knee surgeries)now-a-days but I still try to stay active, especially with my kids.
I have an undergrad and graduate degree in animal Science. I was doing endangered species reproduction work but switched over to human reproduction after graduate school.
I currently work quite a bit but am trying to squeeze adventures in when we can.
I am pretty laid back (more so on a trip) and I like to have fun and be active. I love to try new things and food and learning about new places.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have couch surfed before in Europe in a few countries back in 2012 and hope to do some more soon with my family. I also hope to help out fellow travelers if I can.

I enjoy being outside and love to climb, kayak, hike, and swim.
I love to see new places with my family and don’t mind not having everything planned out on a trip.
I am a scientist (Embryology) and love to talk about other fields of science, adventures, and activities and ways of life.
We will, as of recently, be flying standby (my husband is a pilot) on trips so hopefully utilizing the Couch Surfing community more.
Our kids, Felix and Hazel, like the outdoors as well and are pretty good at trying new foods and experiences.

I will hopefully be traveling with my family most of the time. Our kids are courteous and respectful. We try to stay out of the way and if we need to, out of the house. Our kids are pretty tiny people and can typically fit anywhere!
