Overview
About Me
We are Jena and Meagan, and we decided to make this account jointly since we will be traveling together.
We are both social workers and are good at being able to interact and get along with a wide variety of people.
We share the same passions: the outdoors, travel, and food! We love to be outside whether that be hiking in the fall or hanging out on the river in the summer with family and friends. Our friends say we're easy going, nurturing and funny. I hope they're right :)
We value loyalty and trustworthiness above anything else and strive to be as authentic as possible at all times. We're pretty low key and easy going and are always open to new activities, foods, people, etc.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Meagan and I are giving in to wanderlust and heading out to experience new things and build relationships along the way. In July 2016, we quit our 9-5 jobs, loaded up our hatchback, and departed on an indefinite road trip to explore North America!
Two years ago, we decided to embark on a life changing adventure and we are embracing the concept of slow travel; having no destination in mind and not being particularly intent on arriving. We both enjoy meeting all kinds of new people. Couchsurfing allows us the opportunity to visit new places (especially places that we had not thought about or considered visiting) while meeting new people and learning/seeing as much of a new place as possible. We love and appreciate the combination of travel and community that Couchsurfing offers and enjoy being able to absorb things at a much slower pace.

All kinds of music: Umphrey's McGee, Muddy Waters, Etta James, Widespread Panic, Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Avett Bros, The Head and The Heart, Trampled by Turtles, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Rising Appalachia, Keller Williams, a little bit of everything!
We don’t watch much TV or movies but some of our favorites: Royal Tenanbaums, Pulp Fiction, Almost Famous, Fight Club, Blow, Eternal Summer of the Spotless Mind, we are shameless documentary lovers.
We’re both big readers.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Jena: Just one?! Hmm, I think one of the most challenging (challenging = amazing) things I've done is left everything I had in my home state of Georgia (my job, house, family) to spend a year fighting wildfires in Missouri and Montana. It was an amazing journey of self discovery...trying to figure out myself and the direction I wanted my life to take... that built my confidence and allowed me to find the right path for myself.
Meagan: After college, I lived for two years in Tanzania, working with Maryknoll Lay Missioners. I helped teach disabled children and provided care for orphans who were HIV+. It was an eye-opening experience and ultimately set in motion my desire to pursue a career in social work.
