Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Our house is fridgeless and stoveless and my sister and I both work alotalotalot at present. But, I am available to hang out and show folks around most weekends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

One of my favorite moments with couchsurfers was going along with a group from Mexico to a skate park here in Atlanta. It happened on a perfect summer evening when the city skyline was clearly visible. I was extremely pleased that they not only noticed this, but took a great deal of joy from it. The skate park was no different. It was designed by Tony Hawk, and these freestyle slalom enthusiasts were highly complimentary of the design. I've only been in Atlanta for a few years, and this was one of the first times I felt at home. I danced quietly by myself while they skated. It was so serene. I'll never forget.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2008 I went out to New Delhi, India to visit a friend who had returned there to work for the summer. This person had immigrated to the US with his family at age 11, and he was visiting without his family for the first time since. This was important because at the time he was not out to them, and he wanted very much to explore the gay and Indian sides of his identity. As timing would have it, I got to march with him in Delhi's first PRIDE. It was a magical way to be shown my love's home. Words will do it no justice.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been blessed with the ability to meet, work, live with, and love people from all over the world through my teaching, volunteer work, and studies. I constantly feel humbled by the variety of experiences I get to have and hear about in these capacities. I also am very fond of spending time teaching, playing with, and learning from children. The day I stop learning will be the day my heart stops beating. It couldn't possibly be any other way. It brings me joy.
