About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet interesting folks who love life!

ABOUT ME

I am an open-minded, fun-loving woman who loves art, film, discussing ideas, philosophy, spirituality, religion, fashion, music, books, and traveling. I am a shameless idealist who volunteers in my local community with folks who are on the margins of society (mostly refugee claimants in Vancouver), and I'm currently studying Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed. For work I'm an English teacher which I love, but am also a writer and proud aunt of 8 adorable children.

PHILOSOPHY

"Love yourself / Then forget it / And love the world." -Mary Oliver

"There are no great deeds. Just small deeds with great love." -Mother Teresa

Music, Movies, and Books

Lately it's been The Civil Wars, Bon Iver, The Weepies, Shad, and Death Cab, mixed with Sufjan Stevens, U2, and Coldplay...Movies I love are the Shawshank Redemption, Garden State, Lars and the Real Girl, and books I've read lately include Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safron Foer, The Road by Jack Kerouac, I also read theology by folks like NT Wright, Rob Bell, and Brian Walsh...as for TV, I'm rather STILL obsessed with LOST and I'm a major Gleek. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've hiked to the top of the Hymalayas, that was pretty incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm interested in so many things! Right now I'm linocutting, which is making stamps by carving blocks of linoleum, it's fun! I'm also reading Paulo Friere's Pedagogy of the Oppressed and make a really good vegetarian sweet potato quasadillia, and nutella pancakes are my specialty! :)
