Overview
About Me
Culture junkie living in Seattle, WA. I run my own company doing music promotion, working from home which has a lot of flexibility for travel; I also work at a few performance venues in town and at film + music festivals in the NW and beyond. Super into music and film. Grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland OH, went to college in North Carolina, spent most of my 20s in Brooklyn NY, and had a couple brief stretches living in Melbourne Aus and Nashville TN.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel but my dumb chosen career path puts my income way below the poverty line - so cutting out major expenses for accommodations is the only way I can really make a trip work. Working in entertainment is fun but you don't get into it for the money these days.
I also think it's a much more valuable and enriching experience to spend time with locals, getting to know what life is really like in any given location, rather than turning a travel destination into a tourist playground to throw money at but not really engage with. I love the opportunity to marry a free place to sleep with the experience of getting to know a place on a deeper level through the eyes of those who live in and love it!
I've done a lot of unofficial couch surfing throughout my life - I've got a wide, international network of pals and I've almost never traveled to a place where I didn't have a friend's couch to sleep on. Finally making it official on this site in 2018 to try and hit some destinations that my social circle doesn't quite cover - first stop Maui in July!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The comedian/author/actor/"PC" from the Apple ads/wonderful human John Hodgman once pulled me up onstage (after I'd worked the door for a series of his shows) to lead the crowd in singing a rousing rendition of Auld Lang Syne at me. Another version of this story is: I cried onstage in front of a hundred people at work one day
What I Can Share with Hosts
A friendly, positive, game-for-most-things attitude; new curious eyes through which to see your hometown; recommendations for music/movies/tv you'll probably love.
I like bringing little Seattle-themed gifts like local chocolate or trinkets from the Sub Pop store for hosts, and happy to buy ya dinner/drinks some night!
I'm a great driver, good with kids, a patient English teacher, strong writer, very clean, and able-bodied enough to handle most light-to-medium-strength menial tasks, if any of those skills are helpful to you!
