About Me

Embarking on a 4 month cross country road trip (plus some Canada)! Starting from northern VA, my Australian companion and I will travel the country in our self-converted camper van. In particular, I'm most excited to experience Burning Man for the first time, wonder in awe at the National Parks of the Southwest (Mesa Verde/ Arches/ Grand Canyon/ Antelope Canyon/Zion/ Great Sand Dunes, etc), drink my way through Napa wine country and the other brewery/winery/distillery venues of this great country, be a tourist in cities like Seattle, New Orleans, Savannah and Nashville , and GO TO DISNEYWORLD/HARRY POTTER WORLD (again)!

I'm 24- been living in Baltimore, MD for the past two years, working in a Behavioral Neuroimmunology lab. I work with rodent animal models and have projects related to schizophrenia, and PTSD. Outside of work, I sing in a LGBTQ choir (plus allies-myself included) and love to play intramural softball, after playing competitively in high school and college.

When in a new city, I love science and art museums, concerts, parks, and any exciting food-related experience. When in small towns I like thrifting/antiquing, farmers markets, and old-fashioned movie theaters. When in the middle of nowhere, I get excited about stargazing, animal sightings, weird road-side attractions like "world's largest ball of twine," and the idea of possible alien encounters. I will try any activity or food once, whether it be bungee jumping or eating chicken liver. I have an irrational affinity for pretzels, cornbread, cheese, and marshmallows- although not all together, except obviously pretzels + beer cheese. That's a match made in heaven. I'm a proud geek (see related lists under my "favorites" section) and animal lover. I grew up with Golden Retrievers my whole life and my family regularly fosters dogs.

If you have any questions feel free to ask! I can readily adapt to your comfort level of interaction, whether you'd like to be a bit of a tourist in your own town or just see each other in passing. There's actually a bed built into the back of our camper van, so even if we could just park in your driveway we'd be very grateful. Not a crazy partier, but love to dance and can be persuaded. Prefer quiet pubs for a drink to rowdy bars/ clubs. At the time of this profile posting, I do not do drugs or smoke. Post Burning Man, tbd ;) Can't wait to meet you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm 24, taking a cross country road trip! I'm open to learning new things and experiencing new lifestyles, making new friends and getting the inside scoop on the must-do attractions in every area.

...Not to mention, I'm on a budget and can't afford to stay in hotels every night. So the use of some running hot water would be very much appreciated!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm afraid I don't have many pertinent marketable skills to teach my hosts... unless you want some useless trivia facts or biology tutoring!

I'm willing to learn different cultures or languages; I'm very open to new experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm willing to share a drink/meal, a board game/card game, a movie, etc. And share my experiences on the road, in case you're planning your own trips soon!
