About Me
Hello! I'm a 26 year old from Canada. I've just moved to Amsterdam to begin my Masters degree in Linguistics about a month ago, but before that I've lived in Vancouver (Canada), London (Ontario), and Figeac (France).
I started couchsurfing in 2015 after I moved to Figeac to teach English and it opened me up to meeting so many incredible people throughout the world. I like camping and rock climbing and exploring new sites. I've done some great trips over the years and I'm so excited to be able to host people now that I have my own place in Amstelveen. My home is LGBTQIA+ friendly, about 40 mins to the centrum, and has a cozy couch for one person to stay on.
Bonjour!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really dig the vibe of meeting people in such an authentic way. Having faith in the humanity of other people lifts my spirit and brings me a lot of joy! I joined this site to meet new people and get a more local perspective of the places I visit.
Please give me at least 1 weeks notice for requests as I need to make sure my roommates are on board. Any requests with less than 2 days notice will be declined with no response.
Interests
I'm really interested in hiking / camping and was lucky enough to have been able to do so in Yellowstone National Park, Jasper National Park and Banff National Park about 5 years ago with a handful of my friends and this past summer I did a trip through the Badlands and the Rockies again!
I love rock climbing, swimming, writing and cooking!
I graduated with a degree in linguistics so languages in general really fascinate me, particularly the way the language you speak interacts with socio-political status etc....

My dad and I spent 7 days hiking Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in June 2010. It was probably one of the most incredible and hardest things I've done.
Teach, Learn, Share
Most of British Columbia (the province I grew up in) is on unceded territory. This means that none of the indigenous nations ever surrendered or signed over this land in any formal or informal treaties to the British settlers over 200 years ago. Specifically, Vancouver sits on the unceded land of the Squamish, Musqeaum, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. Canada as a country has struggled with it's genocidal treatment of Indigenous peoples since it's creation and continues to struggle with the long lasting effects of this. That said, Canadians more than ever now are learning how to engage in open and honest dialogue to create a more positive future!
