About Me

I'm a disorganized fiction writer with a day job at a social service organization. I'm into meeting all sorts of new people, cooking meals for anyone who will eat them, reading and discussing books, and eavesdropping on people in bars.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I quit my job and gave away most of my stuff a few years ago to embark on eight months of traveling in both the US and abroad. I couchsurfed (with a joint profile I shared with my then-partner) in Denmark, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Croatia, and France, and all of my experiences were incredible. I've never couchsurfed in the United States - at least not yet!

Interests

Jeanette Winterson, Denis Johnson, fiction of all shapes and sizes, feminism, arguing good-naturedly with good people, cooking, biking, live music, road trips, art projects.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I love Amy Hempel, Raymond Carver, Anne Sexton, Jeanette Winterson, Denis Johnson, Claire Messud. Just the tip of the iceberg.

Movies and TV: The Craft, Gunga Din, High Fidelity, My Cousin Vinny, It Happened One Night, Clueless, Star Trek (TNG and DS9 for me please), Battlestar Galactica, Firefly.

Music: Poison Idea, Sisters of Mercy, The Dead Boys, Black Lips, Sam Cooke, Puerto Rico Flowers, Laura Izibor, Bob Dylan, Motörhead, Kyuss, The Cure, Electric Wizard, Sleep, Cathedral. All/any 70s-influenced doom metal/stoner metal. Goth-synth-pop. Bluegrass. I mean pretty much all over the place

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I stayed on a boat in Copenhagen with a couchsurfing host. It was last-minute and a cramped but awesome surprise. We woke up gently bobbing to the sunrise. We also hopped the huge fence of the city cemetery (with my host's bike!) to go check out Hans Christian Anderson's grave.

I ate bagels with Steve Buscemi once.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to just hear any stories you've got to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can edit anything you got that needs it, read aloud to you, or cook you a damn fine vegetarian meal.

Countries I’ve Visited
