About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get through medical school

ABOUT ME

I grew up in New Paltz, NY on a small farm where I raised diary cows. Its great to be back in NY so I can go home on the weekends to steal lots of vegetables and berries from the farm.

I lived in China for 5 years working for medical NGOs and hospitals in rural areas of Yunnan. I mostly worked with children with congenital heart defects, extremely impoverished villages on basic hygiene, border towns on HIV/AIDS education, and in leprosy camps.

My last year and a half I backpacked, and couchsurfed, all over Asia.

Now I am back in NY working my way through medical school.

I am trying to escape the US as much as possible whenever I get the chance. Now Im working my way across south america. I spent the summer in Peru, Bolivia and Chile. Going back to spend Christmas in Colombia.

PHILOSOPHY

Be happy

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was first involved in couchsurfing as a host to get to speak English and hang out with foreigners once in a while, since I was the only foreigner in the county, but then I started surfing when I was backpacking around Asia. I had the most amazing experiences with couch surfers. They always know the best places to see, and the best places not to see. And when people had time to hang out with me, those were the days that made my trip. Now Im back in the US hosting people in NYC.

Please do not send me spam couch requests or I will reject them. Ive surfed a lot and can spot a spam request a mile away.

I can only host 1 person(READ: small pullout couch), and for no more than a couple of days. If you request long periods of time but ask to be hosted for only a few days - please say which days exactly you want to be hosted. I don't have a lot of free time and have to know exactly when you would be here.

Lastly please let me know if you are looking to hang out with someone or just a place to crash. It really annoys me if I have free time to hang out with a couch surfer and then they just run off to hang out with friends/family/etc in the city. If you want to do that stay with them!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Ive hosted and stayed with some amazing people through CS. It really has given me some of the best memories of all of my travels. If ever possible I will always try to stay with a couchsurfer because I know it will mean a better experience than just a hotel room.
