About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To see as much as I can, wherever I am
ABOUT ME
I moved to Melbourne a a few years ago to start a PhD after teaching kindergarten in Japan for five years. My life revolves around school, riding my bicycle, ultimate frisbee, cooking epic food, and hosting the occasional BBQ/dinner party/house party/excuse to drink on the nature strip.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hosted in Japan and have had the chance to surf in Australia and Indo :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have only surfed a little, but I have done my share of couch hopping in university (trading cooking skills for sheets and such). I've met some great people on my trips who have put me up in their homes. I hope that I can do the same for others.
Interests
I'm working on planting our scruffy backyard with some veggies and exploring Melbourne on my bike. I hope to get some camping in before the end of summer :) I love photography (esp. the old school kind with fixer), cooking anything, dancing, making up children's songs, learning languages, fixing my bike.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've been reading a lot of books about politics, the food system, controversy, nutrition policy and corporate power (and don't mention Coca-Cola!). Um, top three other books? Shantaram, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Everything is Illuminated. I'm also a sucker for Harold and Maude, Moulin Rouge, and Pulp Fiction.
Music is an everything goes sort of route. Lots of Stars, Parov Stellar and Jose Gonzalez lately. Also, I <3 the Postal Service.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Met a stranger on a train to Jakarta who took me into her house for a few days. I met the family, went to the mosque, road motor cycles, ate durian, and made friends with a group of people--despite knowing perhaps 20 Indonesian words.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: gardening, cooking, manual photography, bicycle maintenance, Japanese, French, food/nutrition politics.
Learn: anything. I dabble a lot. If you happen to have worked with a major food company, nutrition policy, WHO, etc.....well!!
Countries I’ve Visited
Cambodia, Germany, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Viet Nam
Countries I’ve Lived In
