Mission? Perhaps meet some new people coming to visit my fabulous little town, and perhaps meet some people on travels of our own. :)

ABOUT ME

We have been together since 2004 and married since 2011, and we have a blast. I'm getting a PhD in English (Rhet and Comp) and love to teach and read. Lance is a man of many professions and talents: he designs, crafts, builds, repairs, cooks, and generally does it all well. We love to cook together and do outdoors stuff--I'm a runner, he's a hiker, mushroom hunter, fisher--and enjoy great music and conversation.

PHILOSOPHY

"Bowties are cool." On that note, people are cool--everyone has their own story, and I like to hear it and share my own. I think if given the chance, most folks will be decent, kind, and honest, so we try our best to be the same.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Not much, yet (newbie!). Perhaps hosting a few folks, and I anticipate if we ever decide to go travel a bit, we'll be doing a bit of couch surfing of our own. Being a student who likes to travel means finding ways to do so frugally--and in a way that's as fun as possible.

I'm a runner (recently ran a marathon!), a reader (English grad school, so...), a knitter, a crafter, a person interested in a wide range of things. Lance has multiple talents, which include understanding anything mechanical, cooking, making fabulous drinks

Music: The Decemberists, The Shins, She and Him, Arcade Fire, Jack White, Wilco, Matt and Kim, the Civil Wars, Neko Case, the New Pornographers, and a lot more that I can't really think of.

Books: don't get me started...anything from graphic novels to cookbooks to Tolkien to Jane Austen to Michael Pollan...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last March, I ran my first marathon. Although I never thought I'd be one of those people who was all like "it changed my life!", when I finished I felt so exhilarated that I knew that it did. Lance biked it with me as support crew, so he was as much part of it as I was--I'm looking forward to more adventures like that!
