Overview
About Me
My husband, Eddie, and I have been married for 5 wonderful years. He managed properties in Seattle, WA, where we have lived for the last 4 years and I was an accounts receivable clerk for a marine fuel company. Originally from Canada, I am finally through the ridiculously long and intense immigration process and now joined my husband as an American citizen.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We are spending the next year or two traveling the world, experiencing cultures, learning languages and engaging locals. We love learning about how locals live and experiencing the rich culture of a place that can only be experienced with locals! Tourist spots are fun to visit, but my absolute best experiences traveling has been with locals. If you stay in the resort and the tour bus it's impossible to really experience the richness of a place.
Interests
On an average day, we get excited about making and experiencing new food. We love history and local culture. We like taking outdoor adventures, hiking, biking and just general exploring. We are very curious. We love compelling stories, whether through movies, tv shows, books or conversation. Eddie is an experienced conversationalist. He strikes up deep and refreshing conversations with strangers with ease. While living in Seattle, I fell in love with Krav Maga!

Music, Movies, and Books
Eddie -
Philosophy that challenges worldview (ie. Erotic Dialoges of Plato, Descartes Discourse, The Prince by Machiavelli)
Rock & Alternative Music (Dave Matthews Band, Pentatonics, Genesis, Jack Johnson, Paul Simon)
Criminal Minds (TV)
Fringe (TV)
Adventure and Drama movies are his favorite, though we watch anything with a compelling story.
Jennifer -
168 Hours (Book)
Sacred Marriage (Book)
Bones (TV)
Grey's Anatomy (TV)
Pop Music - I absolutely LOVE to dance. I put on the pop music station while cooking, cleaning and doing random error and I will dance my house clean. It's more about the beat than the music. I do enjoy jazz, alternative and easy listening if I'm not dancing. ;)
Comedy movies (though not a huge fan of SNL style) and crime dramas and interesting documentaries are my favorites, though stories are more important to me than genres. The only genre I don't like as a whole is horror.
Shared -
Big Bang Theory (TV)
The Newsroom (TV)
Freakonomics (Book)
Creativity Inc. (Book)
Most movie genres if the story is compelling - we usually end up watching comedies or adventure.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Growing up I was not that adventurous, at least physically. Since moving to Seattle, I have been exploring with my husband (one of his favorite things to do) and have done a couple things that were pretty amazing for me. In 2015 we hiked to the top of Mount Pilchuk. It was the most physically strenuous outdoor adventure that I've ever done and it was so exhilarating!
What I Can Share with Hosts
My husband has a culinary degree, so we can cook extravagant meals. I am also trained as an esthetician (I worked at a resort spa in Canada for 5 years) and am more than willing to offer my skills. We also have 3+ years of building management experience, so we're just generally good with problem solving and fixing things :)
