About Me

One reason I love to meet new people is because I learn so much! I believe every life contains experiences worth sharing and learning from. Whether we're farmers, lawmakers, industrial workers, housekeepers, teachers, executives, students, or parents, we all have such a lot to learn from each other.

I try to learn something from every person I meet. And I try to offer whatever small thing I have at the moment to make that person's life perhaps just a little better--a thought, a smile, an invitation, some food, some help, a laugh, a song, a prayer.

I try to be a contributor, not just to make the world better, but also because that's what makes me happy! So, that's why couchsurfing appeals to me. Basically, because it makes me happy. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We're new to the world of couchsurfing. We first heard about the concept from a Moldovan dude hiking near Mt. Rainier in the US. And now, in a twist of fate, we find ourselves in his home country!

We are living in Moldova and Romania for the next 9-10 months while my husband conducts sociological research, while I learn Romanian and miss my piano and bike, and while our 6-year-old son builds his own lego models of every imaginable building, plane, ship, and bridge in the modern world. We return to our hometown, Seattle, in spring 2016.

We love to camp whenever possible, but when that doesn't work or make sense, we love to meet and stay with interesting people. Between the three of us, we speak English, Swedish, Romanian, some Spanish, and some Russian.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ran a marathon in 3:45 despite life-long asthma: I'm hugely proud of this accomplishment! So, yes, if you want to go running, I would love to.
