Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I traveled through Europe in 2006 I stayed with many friends I met whilst living in youth hostels in Dublin.

My favourite was staying with Hana and her family in Czech Republic. She lived in a small town called Kutna Hora. Her friends were very welcoming and when Hana was working I headed to regional music festivals. It was a great time.

Interests

Meeting new people and trying new things
Cycle touring and traveling
Cooking, red wine and tending to my veggie patch

I have travelled much of Australia and during uni I managed a youth hostel in Adelaide. I loved working in tourism and really enjoy passing on the knowledge I have to ensure that travellers have an amazing experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy indie, funk and jazz music; I am an intermittent reader; and my guilty pleasure is watching trashy chick flicks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2011, I really wanted to see more of Australia, in particular the east coast. I didn't own a car, nor did I want to. I did, however, own a bicycle and so decided to go cycle touring.

I started in Cairns in far north Queensland and rode via Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne to Adelaide. In all the trip was just over 6,500km.

Australia is an amazing vast country and I feel so much more connected to it since cycle touring. There are some awesome little towns in Queensland, stunning national parks in northern NSW and the Gippsland cycle trails and towns are fantastic.

Cycle touring is amazing and i recommend it to anyone considering giving it a go.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Netherlands, Spain, Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States
