Overview
About Me
I'm a New York native who relocated to Baltimore, Maryland. Fell in love with the small-town feel of the city, and the vibrant art and music scene here, and after 11 years, this is home.
I'm an artist, designer, and builder of all sorts of things - mostly collaborative public art projects. I also teach wood shop safety classes at our local tool library. (Jenschachter.com if you want to check out my work.)
For fun, I see a lot of live music, comedy shows, and try to get out in the wilderness as often as work allows.
Just returned from an adventure in Saudi Arabia where I was teaching electronics and fabrication to a group of young women.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Like most on here, I get such a thrill out of traveling and meeting new people. This seems a much better way to meet locals and get a feel for a place than crashing at a hotel.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm open to and love all kinds of music... At the moment, I've really been digging folk, bluegrass, and some old swing and jazz.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the coolest projects I've ever done was a collaboration with the host of the TV show Mythbusters. We built a giant light-up sign that was exhibited on the White House south lawn!
Teach, Learn, Share
I don't know how much I can teach without my workshop, but I'd be happy to share some art-y ideas! Would love to nerd-out about anything creative, if you're into that sort of thing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Open mindedness, good conversation, and a sense of humor.
