About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Survive residency / exams and keep reminding ourselves that life should never be put on hold
ABOUT ME
This profile has been created for Joe Kohn and Jenn Guyant who've been mostly joined at the hip as best friends for the past 8 years, and married for the last 4 of those years. Our friends generally say we are way too cute, but put up with us because of our penchant for adventure and good times. Jenn is in her 2nd year of an emergency medicine residency and spends much of her time at local hospitals. Joe finished pharmacy school this year and is in the middle of transferring his new license from Florida to Georgia. We both want to take advantage of our youth and experience as much from life as we can handle.
PHILOSOPHY
Try as much of it as we can, and we thoroughly believe in the golden rule.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Couchsurfing has helped bring the world to us when we haven't been able to seek it out ourselves. We have a spare room and see hosting as a great way to break up our routine.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Our only official couchsurfing experience has been as hosts, but we've been doing it unofficially for quite some time. In 2011 we went to Budapest, Hungary for a week and stayed on the couch of some friends from college. We had an amazing time visiting local markets with them, visiting a ballet in a gorgeous old opera house for only 5 dollars, learning the joys of Palinka, and even finding Joe's family graveyard. We think couchsurfing will create more opportunities for us to travel more places and make friends rather than just visiting old ones.
Interests
Good food, drink, and conversation for starters. We both like to spend our time enjoying the outdoors in any way we can. That spans from rock climbing and hiking, to snorkeling and kayaking. Our cooking has really blossomed since discovering a copy of The Joy of Cooking in a used bookstore and we regularly host potlucks and iron chef style cook offs. We're both bookworms as well, big fans of science fiction and Joe particularly likes reading and discussing mythology from around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books - This is always a stumper and more easily approached by naming authors: Asimov, Neil Gaiman, Borges, China Mieville, and Lovecraft for starters
Music - We're pretty laissez faire with our listening, We like tunes we can dance swing to, and have some pretty eclectic driving mixes
Movies - Transformers (1980s version), Star Wars episode V, The Fall, Devdas, Yojimbo - If you haven't seen these yet, DO, you won't be dissapointed =)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2007 we undertook a cross country road trip from the Atlantic to the Pacific and back in one and half weeks. It was a grueling drive but we were more than rewarded when we stopped at a campground overlooking Puget Sound and watched the sunset while enjoying a meal of fire roasted garlic, potatos, and sausage.
In 2010, New Year's eve we had our wedding on a tiki barge in biscayne bay of Miami. It turned out to be the sunniest day of the season and everything fell into place perfectly. It was amazing to see all our friends and family gathered together in a mini reunion for the celebration. There are plenty other awestruck moments but these are some examples of the big ones.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well there's plenty of things we want to learn from languages to dancing and the awesome things about where you live.
We are somewhat eclectic afficionados of specialty board games and would love to introduce you to the joys of Bang, Killer Bunnies, or try to save the world together with a round of Pandemic.
