About Me
NOT ACCEPTING GUESTS RIGHT NOW. College after high school didn't suit me, so after a couple of years of that, I went off to violin-making school. That was about thirty years ago! I met my husband there and came back to NC with him where we've been raising our babies (now 22, 18 and 14), living and working selling, repairing and making violins.
The sad news...my husband died in Nov2015 fuck you very much cancer. So that's weird and my life is changing but I'm doing fine.
Update 4/17: Oldest child has moved out and boyfriend with cat have moved in :)
Update 8/22: Married boyfriend and moved to Minneapolis. Now empty nested and have a guest room! Should start up receiving guests again soon!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Initially I just didn't want to pay the hotel prices for the convention I was attending and then I discovered this community! I have hosted several times and have enjoyed meeting all of my guests. I like that my kids have this experience for openness and hospitality too.
Update 8/22: On my to another convention and Toronto is WXPENSIVE! So I just remembered my wonderful experiences Couchsurfing so thought I'd try again and hope that it hasn't changed!
Interests
For some reason, couchsurfing.com keeps tagging me as being interested in "news". I am interested in running away from the news. I'm in self-preservation mode these days and staying focused on my violin shop, my health, and my friends and family. I enjoy exploring my hometown and state and spontaneous mini adventures, walking my dog, and live music.
Update 8/22: None. Still true.
- violin
- museums
- birdwatching
Music, Movies, and Books
I just bought a new-ish car that has Sirius radio and my favorite stations right now are Soul Town and Outlaw Country. I listen to commercial-free classical radio while I work and like to go out to hear live music in small clubs and dive bars.
8/22: Don't listen to music in the car anymore. Still love live music. I only go to clubs and dive bars if I think my husband really wants me to. We both love going to hear the Minnesota Orchestra and have season tickets!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm scared of heights, but I climbed down the 200ft sheer cliff Mooney waterfall in Havasupai Reservation in the Grand Canyon. It was freaking amazing and now I'm not as scared of things as I used to be.
8/22: Interesting to see what amazed me five years ago. That trip was pretty neat for sure. The most amazing thing to me now is my sobriety.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always working on being present and balancing what's most important right now but also I reflect on the past and consider the future as I lead the fullest life I can.
8/22: Yep
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm probably a bit older than a lot of Couchsurfers. Maybe this elder white lady can diversify your life somewhat ;)
8/22: Bahaha! I'm not old!!,🤣🤣
