About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn about the world from entirely new perspectives.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the foothills of the Appalachians, went to college in South Carolina at Clemson University (go Tigers!), and then moved to Charleston to fulfill my dream of living on the coast. The longer I live here, the more reasons I have to stay here. I love living in a historic town by the water.
I have become a beach girl, but I have so many great memories of growing up in Tennessee as well. Growing up caring for horses, a donkey, goats, cats and a dog, as well as helping out on my grandfather's dairy farm, taught me invaluable life lessons, and I'm so glad I had those experiences.
During the week, I work as an RN in the operating room. I specialize in orthopedics, but I have experience in surgeries all across the spectrum. It's an incredibly rewarding career. And, I have seen some interesting things in my 10 years of work, to say the least. :)
On the weekends, you can find me doing anything social and/or by the water. I have a work hard/play hard mentality, so I like to take full advantage of local happenings and great weather.

PHILOSOPHY

"Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't." -Bill Nye

"Do what you love and the rest will follow."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Although I don't have much space to offer in my home at the moment, I would love to be a tour guide for surfers. I work 4 days a week, off Saturdays and Sundays, and rotating Thursday or Friday off. So, if your host is unable to show you around on those days, I'll gladly step in to help out!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have yet to host or be hosted, but I have friends who are involved with CS, so I've had the chance to meet some visiting surfers from time to time. It has been a great experience so far, and I'm looking forward to getting more involved.

Interests

Travel (obviously ;)), great food (huge foodie right here), trying new wines/craft cocktails/craft beers, a lazy morning with brunch & good coffee, people watching, beaching, boating, cookouts, beach volleyball, playing pool, darts, exploring towns from a local's perspective, touring my own town, festivals & events, traditions & cultures, live music, reading biographies & memoirs, barhopping, trying new experiences for the story to tell, shared laughter, late night stories told with good friends

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been able to be a part of saving peoples' lives over the years, and nothing has been more amazing or eye-opening to me than those experiences. Sometimes it's been through helping as a team to revive someone, sometimes it's been working as a team to keep someone from going into failure, and sometimes it's been helping with organ donations to make one person's sacrifice become hope for many others. It's always a crazy, terrifying, rewarding, and amazing experience all rolled into one.
