About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Adventure. Build community. Make a difference.
ABOUT ME
I am a high school social studies teacher who adventures in the great outdoors. I prefer the sky over a ceiling any day of the week. Teddy, the Wonder Dog, currently occupies my heart. He typically does not travel with me, unless I am embarking on a short journey. I'm a friendly, respectful, easy-going, open-minded gal with character. I'm certainly not used to writing bios. Can you tell? If there is anything you'd like to know, ask!!
PHILOSOPHY
Here's a little Henry David Thoreau for you: Simplicity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
While traveling, it is good to make friends along the way! I've found that connections and friendships always make the experience better. This summer, I backpacked the John Muir Trail, and I met some great couchsurfing folks in Mammoth Lakes pre-hike. The experience was so incredible, I hope to surf again and again! I would also love to return the favor, sharing the kindness and hospitality that was shown to me.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My friend, Rachel, turned me onto Couchsurfing a few months ago while on a miniature road-trip. We stayed with an awesome gal in Boise who made the Couchsurfing experience unforgettable. Now I'm hooked!
Interests
These days, I backpack (hike and camp), eat, and sleep. I also enjoy the occasional concert, drawing, and gathering with friends. More importantly, I have an invested interest in aiding/counseling students. I try to make a difference in their lives, no matter how big or small that difference may be.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Ahhh! This is difficult! My heart is tied music and listen to a million different artists. That said, I LOVE 60s and 70s rock and folk rock. I also listen to current indie/alternative rock and folk rock. And there is always a place in my heart for blues and jazz! Generally speaking, I steer clear of Top 40 music.
Books: Walden. My First Summer in the Sierra. Into Thin Air. Into the Wild. Wild.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have backpacked 248 miles solo on (and around) the John Muir Trail. The adventure was spectacular!!
Teach, Learn, Share
Skills to share:
Teaching. Not to dust off the old shoulders, but my academic skills are sharp. I substitute all subjects K-12, so if there is something you need assistance with in the academic realm, let me know! I'd be more than happy to help.
For those of you who might need assistance around the place, I am willing and able to get my hands dirty! Also, for those lacking in hiking, backpacking, camping knowledge, I'd be glad to answer any questions you may have.
Skills to learn:
Cooking! I can get by, but I am not great by anyone's standards.
What I Can Share with Hosts
An intelligent conversation. A friend. A big smile. A warm heart. A mediocre singing voice. A place to stay when visiting Eugene, OR. A thank you card.
