About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Living, learning, loving
ABOUT ME
I am an optimistic, somewhat idealistic person who sees the silver lining in others. I am curious, determined, proactive, creative and love connecting with other people. I try and follow my intuition and seize unexpected opportunities as they arise. I have met some wonderful people and had some amazing experiences this way. I also have a quiet side and appreciate my down time.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that life is for living and experiencing, but that we should go about this in a way that is always respectful and considerate of others; without love, life means very little.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have lived in St. Leonards/ Hastings since October 2010. It's a place filled with good folk and is a wonderful community that I feel very much a part of.
I will soon be moving to Stavanger, Norway and will see if it is possible to host there too!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted a few times and met up with couchsurfers a couple of times. I haven't surfed yet but I'm looking forward to it!
Interests
Community, growing flowers, herbs and vegetables in the beautiful Bohemia community walled garden, live music, psychology, wildlife documentaries, world cinema, travel, eating good food, sea-gazing (my flat is right on the sea front so this is easy to indulge in!), myths and story-telling, vegetarianism...lots more, but here is a little selection to give you an idea.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: All sorts, including Spanish-influenced music, folk music, Sigur Ros, baroque era classical music...any music that I find truth in!
Film: Usually world cinema. Quirky character and adventure movies (I tend to like French and Spanish films). Films that you learn something about life or yourself through. One of my favourites is Y Tu Mama Tambien. I'm not usually a big blockbuster fan.
I am also currently really getting into Scandinavian crime dramas! The Bridge, The Killing...
Books: Authors who reflect on life and love, e.g.Paulo Coelho, Milan Kundera.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was involved with helping athletes with intellectual disabilities to be able to compete in high level sporting events by being a classifier in Mexico 2011 and Brazil in 2013 (doing cognitive tests and sports observations with them to check they were eligible to compete). This came about through my psychology training. It was a humbling experience to see people that have overcome their limitations to excel at their sport.
And various sights and experiences throughout my travels that are too many to mention here but I'd be happy to talk about them :-)
Teach, Learn, Share
