About Me

CURRENT MISSION

A mover of in-betweens, ready for the next adventure

ABOUT ME

About me? I prefer sleeping under the stars, to my bed… even if I wake up shivering. I like walking in the rain & still enjoy jumping in puddles. I prefer the bus to driving, not only for the environment; but the eclectic mix of people. And I LOVE walking barefoot- even in cities. I have done so in Rome, Delhi, Istanbul, Seattle, Budapest, Bangkok & Edinburgh or any other time that forces me into heels. I am always curious and this has driven me to travel or live in some crazy places. Favorite places that taught me lessons?? A year spent in Haiti at 18, studying in Thailand, research in the mystic Faroe Islands, volunteering in Guatemala, master studies in Hungary and Sweden, an internship in Kenya & an adventure to India traveling around with local friends. I guess that is my biggest problem- attempting to figure out when is the right time to start reality... Or scarier yet, when reality finds me; on what strange odyssey will it send me? Either way, I enjoy the journey- living, loving & hugging a few trees. I love nature, adventure and pursuing my passions. I think we can all contribute to a more fair, just, beautiful & wonderful world, if we only realize it! STAND UP & DEMAND THE IMPOSSIBLE!

PHILOSOPHY

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. -Mark Twain

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

First timer... but I am excited to help out in the future. Being that I am always on the move, it's always fun to meet new friends - either as a host or for a coffee to explore new places and great conversation.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am a new girl... but have heard it is great from a lot of friends...

Interests

Travel and everything close to nature- hiking, skiing, scubadiving, boating, camping... Spending time with close friends and family. Debates, politics, philosophy and summers at my cabin- swimming, enjoying good food and relaxing with my wonderful family whom I miss dearly. Flirting, dancing and spontaneous adventures... down the street or to the distant corners of our amazing planet.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ishmael, God of Small Things, Freakonomics, Dancing with Mosquitos, And most books by Paulo Coelho... just read Kite Runner and really enjoyed that too.

Not much of a movie person... I prefer documentaries... yeah, a bit nerdy.

I love most music, but love the soul of the 60s & 70s... Favorite music memories: Dancing to live gypsy music in Budapest in crowded, smokey bars! Spontaneous drum concert in Venice after the Italians WON the 2006 WORLD CUP!!! Impromptu concert in Scotland- musicians fr Scotland, India, Burundi, Kenya, Trinidad and Spain at the World Youth Congress. Different instruments, different beats, but the same energy and

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in Haiti and worked with a children's sponsorship programme.
Worked in a landfill community in Thailand.
Spent time in a Thai Buddhist community... barefoot, organic living, meditation and no electrictiy.
Survived a car accident in Sweden in which we flipped the car 5 times... (were ran into by a lorry... thank God for Volvo).
Studied or lived in: USA, Sweden, Faroe Islands (Denmark), Thailand, Guatemala, Hungary, Kenya and the Netherlands

Teach, Learn, Share

Being open-minded can make every experience a once-in- a-lifetime amazing adventure... listening can help you build wisdom, learn about cultures and your friends, and also help you comprehend the bigger picture... giving up things and gaining ideas lightens your soul and sets you free.

I know... I am a nerd... but I love it that way.
