About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See as much of the world as I can, on my own terms.

ABOUT ME

***I'm on the road for the foreseeable future so I sadly cannot host at the moment!***

I'm usually pretty quiet, preferring to listen over talking, especially in large groups. Don't let appearances fool you, though, I still have a good sense of humour and love to tell stories. Once you get me started, I can chat all night.

I love living at the foothills of the Rockies and I love showing off my home region just as much. There is always more to discover and more adventures to be had here.

I'm travelling South East Asia at the moment with my partner Ed. While I'm usually pretty shy, he's one of those people who can have a great conversation with anyone about anything.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm always asking myself questions along the lines of "why am I doing this?" and "why do I want to do this?".

Sincerity is super important to me in everything I do and I'm happy where I am - caught in between of what I want, and what I'm told I should want.

I figure I only live once (at least, that I'll ever know of) and I want to make sure I squeeze out every ounce of fun and enjoyment from my time here on earth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I make my couch available, and I'm always willing to offer advice to those who'd like some insider tips on discovering the Rockies. Even when I can't host, I still love to meet travelers for coffee or for hike in the mountains.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a few travelers, mostly from Germany and the US and I've been to coffee and/or hiking with some travelers that I could not host. My experiences have always been wonderful! In an era when we're constantly bombarded by negative news from around the world, Couch Surfing has been an excellent way for me to feel connected with often ignored kind, generous and open-minded members of our world community.

Interests

Reading, hiking, rollerblading, kayaking, video games, writing, travelling, yoga, theatre, gastronomy, skiing, music, language learning

Music, Movies, and Books

I like going to the movies as an outing, but I don't really like watching movies for themselves. I have trouble sitting still that long! If I do watch a movie, it'll probably be about an epic adventure, or a comedy, or a children's movie. (Children's movies are great because they're short enough that my attention span can usually hang on for most of it!)

I used to read a lot, but as I've grown up, I find that the only time I can really concentrate on a story is when I'm traveling. I read a lot while I'm on planes, buses and planes - and I especially enjoy reading about the places I'm visiting or hope to visit - but if I go a long spell without traveling, I end up going a long spell without reading too.

Music-wise, I like almost all genres. I'll happily go to a punk rock concert one night and to the opera the next. I have no singing or instrument skills at all, but I still love to learn songs from wherever I go.

Teach, Learn, Share

I feel like I'm really an expert on nothing! Though, I do enjoy showing others my discoveries here in the Rockies. I also have an embarrassingly huge fascination with communal transportation so when it comes to talking about navigating buses, trains, planes and urban transportation systems while on a trip, I always have plenty to offer!

And I guess I'm not bad when it comes to healthcare since it's what I do for a living.

I can offer some conversational experience in English and French for those learning the language. My partner, Ed, is also fluent in Mandarin and is a computer tech person, so if you need help with your printer/internet/computer while we're in town, he's your guy!
