ABOUT ME

Hello couch surfers!!! I just moved to Oz on the working holiday visa. I'll be here at least a year, and more if Oz let's me. :) I have been living in NYC for the past 8 years where I worked as a Social Worker. Most recently I was working in a psychiatric emergency room...so not much surprises me. I like seeing all the beautiful tourist attractions, but really enjoy getting off the beaten path, talking with locals, and learning about the cultural and political history of the countries I'm visiting. My last journey was a year in Central and South America. It was amazing.

PHILOSOPHY

Always keep yourself open to new experiences, knowledge, and relationships. Keep traveling. You can't know exactly who you are until you are surrounded by a culture completely different than yours and challenged to express your beliefs and culture. The world is a wonderful place....go see it.

兴趣

Traveling is by far my biggest interest and my passion. I've traveled throughout Europe, the states,jch of Latin America and the Caribbean. I will be traveling for the rest of my life. I'm a bit of a foodie so I love to eat good food and try new things. Living in NYC has made it possible for me to try cuisine from around the world. I also love meeting new people and learning about cultures from around the world. I also have a big interest in volunteering and helping others. Working with vulnerable populations has been a big part of my life for over 10 years and something I am trying to continue to do while traveling.

I listen to almost all music, but I have to admit I'm not into heavy techno or heavy metal.

Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Into the Wild, Dirty Dancing, Usual Suspects, American Beauty. I'm also really into action thrillers like the Bourne Series.

Books: I tend to read a lot of quick reads for fun. A lot of John Grisham. Other memorable books have been The Life of Pi, The Bell Jar, Clockwork Orange, Animal Farm, and The Kite Runner.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I hiked the highest point in Central America, Tajumulco. Its a volcano in Guatemala. I lost my big toenail in the experience, but to watch the sunrise from there and be above the clouds made it worth it.

Also diving with hammerheads in Galapagos is up there :).
