About Me

Hi! I'm Jenny, 23 years old, German. I am currently living in the Netherlands where I am studying.
Travelling is one of my passions. I spent one year living in Canada, one year living and backpacking Australia and a few months backpacking South East Asia. Now that I'm back in Europe, I do many day or weekend trips to many nice places. I am currently living in Orlando, Florida where I am just about to finish my internship at Walt Disney World.

My next big trip is coming up soon. Before flying back home to Europe, I am doing a road trip around Eastern Canada.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am organizing a language cafe in my town in the Netherlands. Many people from the couchsurfing community are coming there and introduced me to other events that are being organized by couchsurfing. It is a great community that is following principles that I am very interested in. My language cafe is trying to collaborate with the couchsurfing community and we advertise each others events.
I previously stayed with airbnb a couple of times and made great experiences, so now because of my connection with couchsurfing it is time to try out this website.

Interests

As described earlier, my biggest passion is travelling, or more specifically, backpacking. I think this the best way to learn more about cultures. This is also the reason why I went to/organize a language cafe. I really like to exchange stories. Any stories. I enjoy real stories about travelling or cultures, but also fictional stories from books, tv shows, etc.
This relates to my studies. I study theme park management which is focused on immersing people into a different reality, often through story telling. My favorite companies related to that are Cirque du Soleil and Disney and I am very proud that I have worked/am working for both of those companies.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I don't really know anything about popular music. I almost only listen to musical theatre or accapella music. Random, I know.

Movies/TV shows: I really like Zombie movies and Disney movies, which is a strange combination I guess. My favorite TV shows are Walking Dead, Hannibal, Community, Dreadful Penny and a whole long list of other, older shows that are too many to list.

Books: I'm a huge book nerd. I read all kinds of books, including of course Harry Potter. My favorite book is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I can also spend hours in book stores and libraries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Like I wrote earlier, I went on a big trip around the world all by myself. I am very proud of that. I left at age 19 after finishing high school. I organized everything by myself and paid for it myself. What was planned as a one year working holiday in Canada turned into a 26 month long trip through the US, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia. Two days after I returned home, I told my parents I would move to the Netherlands to study there and I started working in Switzerland until then to save up some money.

I am very proud of this trip. It was my way of finding myself and finding out what I want to do with my life. It also gave me the feeling that I can do anything I can dream of if I really want to.

Teach, Learn, Share

As described earlier, my biggest passion is travelling, or more specifically, backpacking. I love to learn about other cultures and really experience their way of living. This is best possible by meeting locals. I like to exchange stories from my experiences and listen to new stories which inspire me for my next travels. I enjoy cooking, baking and going out for dinner, so I am also really interested in the local food.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a very multi-cultural person and I love to talk about my experiences. I can give travel tips, recipes, etc. I would like to make new friends this way and hopefully some day I will be able to return the favour of letting you stay at my place too.
