About Me

I'm a 27-year-old German girl (Halli-hallo!) who is currently travelling, working and living in South America. I've seen Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina and am excited to soon be exploring Uruguay and Brazil :) I lived in Dundee, Scotland, for 5 years and near York, England for 2 years. I've loved every second of living in a different country and culture and have wanted to continue doing it ever since. During high school I also did a 1 year exchange with a lovely French girl from Amiens, where I lived for half of that time - I think going abroad and especially living with somebody from there, not just any touristy hotel, is the most fascinating and fun way to spend our short time as humans.
Other than that, I absolutely love languages and how they open up stuff to you that you didn't even know existed. I'm fluent in German, English and French but am super keen to improve my Spanish at the moment.
I love nature, philosophising, reading, swimming, ANIMALS, cooking new & creative veggie meals and having a cold beer by the water.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I love travelling, meeting people from other places, learning about their culture and traditions, picking up a few words in their language... Food.
I also met my best friend in the world through a similar forum at 15, which is how I jumped on my first plane to meet her in Scotland and very likely why I ended up living abroad, so I'm very open minded when it comes to new ways to meet friends and/or to have a cool adventure that you otherwise would never get to experience.

Interests

Psychology, philosophy, languages and their history, culture, gastronomy & FOOD, good beer, animals, new challenges that scare you at first and then you can't wait to do it again (like your first rollercoast ride)
One of my very cliché interest has always been to see the US - especially the South, so meeting a couchsurfer from there whose dream has always been to see Scotland or Germany would be a match made in heaven!

Music, Movies, and Books

I honestly know nothing about music other than that I enjoy a lot of it, and can't stand the other part of it.
I love books & movies because 1. There tends to be one for any mood you are in (comedy when you are depressed so you can laugh again, horror movies to scare your friends during dvd nights, but end up being more scared yourself) and 2. They always stick with me - even a really bad book or movie will ever so slightly change how I feel about something or myself, but generally I'm just a very over-reflecting person anyway.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Choose one of these (see below):

Travelled the majority of South America this year and it's been a crazy roller coaster ride.

Went to a wedding with a kilt-wearing date.

Slept at my french 'sister's auntie's flat in Paris that made me feel like a real Frenchie for a night.

A spontaneous 12-hour drive to Annecy, France, with 2 of my best friends and 80 euros in our pocket that turned out to be one of the most amazing holidays in my life.

Going to school in Amiens and leaving 10 minutes early to factor in all the "bises" (kisses) that you give all your friends before you even get to the classroom.

Endless conversations about psychology (free therapy, yay! I'm kidding), philosophy, the meaning of life, God and once again, food.

In return, I'd love to learn something about your home country or city, maybe even a couple of words in your language like ("It's very cool that we met on couchsurfing")
