About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Always changing.

ABOUT ME

I am a Peace Corps Volunteer living in my own apartment in the beautiful city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine, where I will spend the next two years teaching English at a local secondary school. Every day here brings something new to my life, and I can't imagine the changes I'll go through over the course of my service.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel as though I've been static for too long, but now I'm beginning to move. To force myself to be uncomfortable, only to find the places where limits were are now opportunities for personal growth and exploration.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am offering my fold out bed/couch up to the world in the hopes that you'll open your couches up to me. I am interested in fostering cross cultural understanding and friendship, both by hosting travelers and by traveling myself. Unfortunately I can't always offer my couch to the world, and right now my participation is limited to meeting up with fellow travelers and showing them around the a city that's new to me as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never actually couch surfed myself, but I have a few friends who love it, and rave about it whenever they have the chance. They've had such positive experiences that I knew I had to try it. It certainly seems like the best way to see new places and experience new cultures.

Interests

I love reading and writing, photography, biking, running, and laughing. I have worked in a few coffee shops over the years, and an afternoon spent people watching with a book and a cappuccino is my favorite way to relax. I love to cook, and I think food can offer an eyeopening look at any culture. In the same vein, I love beer, and am particularly interested in visiting places with strong connections to brewing.
