About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Playing a mini-tour in the UK and Berlin June 18-27 2010
ABOUT ME
I'm the music editor for the Pittsburgh City Paper, which means I go to lots of shows, listen to lots of CDs, and write about 'em; lately, I've also been turning up in Flagpole, the Dallas Observer, Nashville Scene, and other fine publications.
In the Fall 2010, I'm starting a dual MA in Professional Writing/MLitt in Investigative Journalism through Carnegie Mellon University and University of Strathclyde.
I used to have a band called Chalk Outline Party; I've just released my solo debut, and am doing a little touring overseas.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to CS, but it comes highly recommended by people I trust and whose lifestyles I admittedly envy. I'm excited to give it a shot.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My couch-surfing has been the old-fashioned variety: Looking through address books, wondering, "Who do I know in ... ?" But it's taken me across the US on some great roadtrips. I've also hosted friends-in-need and the occasional rock band on my couch, anywhere from a weekend to a month or more.
Interests
I enjoy hitting the town, checking out small clubs and venues, hiking, cycling, yoga. One of these days I'll learn how to dance.
Playing music, writing, staying up all night recording songs with it blasting in my headphones ... and completely silent in the room, reinvention, self-invention, polite fictions, losing it all, getting it all.
