ABOUT ME
One thing I've noticed recently, the older you get the harder it is to fill up sections like this...
I hope they don't have a character limit on this thing??
Grew up in Russia, but now I live and work in Washington, DC. I am an engineer but also own/run a small permaculture farm outside of the city. I love finding new projects that would help me learn and experience life in different ways.
I have few trips planned for this year. An environmentalist in me wants me to stay put and reduce my carbon footprint. The nomad in me doesn't want to talk to the environmentalist. :)
Last year I bought and have been renovating a small camper van that I call Ivan. We already used it to do a trip to Boston and another one to New Orleans. It was such a blast. I definitely love that type of free slow travel.
Open to new people, places and experiences.
DM me if you'd like to meet or just virtually chat.

PHILOSOPHY
It is all a matter of perspective. I am the one responsible for seeing the glass half full or half empty.
I'm the one in charge of how the traffic is going to affect my day, how a busy metro commute is going to determine my mood.
I choose HAPPY!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
What am I looking for from this site?
I think first of all - its people. I try to look over online blogs for places I want to see, but I still fall back to chatting with a local about the best places to see and eat.
There is this saying that says something about "have around you people you want to be"... or something along those lines. I would love to build around me a community of travelers and nomads who refuse to give up their right to roam. <3
P.S. Having a place to stay in a new city also doesn't hurt :)
Interests
Did I mention I built a camper van?
Recently I started taking private lessons in Russian Literature. Realized that I barely remember anything from the classics. Plus, living in the States is taking its toll on my Russian language skills. My family is not happy about it :)
So to address both of those things, I found an online tutor from Russia. SHE IS AMAZING! And I absolutely love our weekly lessons.
