About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To gain wisdom, and tred upon far distant lands....
ABOUT ME
We both love playing guitar; as well as other instruments - and aside from loving music in general; we are rather huge metalheads. We also are both part of the Canadian Folk Metal music project: Maglor. We met ice climbing and through our University program "Eco Tourism and Outdoor Leadership" in 2007. We also live to travel; and being big foody's - eat while doing so.... We love to laugh and enjoy a brew/tea, or whathaveyou. We are also very large advocates of creating the smallest "footprint" (doing things in the most sustainable way)...while working, traveling, and simply living to the fullest. Returning to nature, and keeping things as they should be is very important to us.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
AUSTRIA: Went hiking in the beautiful mountains, ate delicious wild game(venison)and tasty apfel strudel.
BOLIVIA: Hiked the Yunga Cruz Trail which was very beautiful, we recommend it! We stayed in a guys shed cause there was no hostel/hotel in this village. Spent time in the salt flats which is like being on the moon. Climbed near a dormant volcano and saw some mummies. Ate amazing empanadas.
CHILE: Had our first amazing couchsurfing experience in Santiago, checked out an epic metal bar and viking restaurant. Ate the most amazing seafood with tasty wine. Went snowboarding, there was so much snow it was ridiculous!
CZECH REPUBLIC: Spent time in Prague with the amazing architecture, potato pancakes and sweet dark beer. Saw the epic bone chapel and had a beer bath in Kutna Hora!
DENMARK: Biked around Copenhagen and ate danishes what they call wienerbrot. Saw Hamlets castle and stayed in a historic viking town in an old jail cell! Sailed on a viking replica fishing boat! Ate delicious curried herring.
FINLAND: Had an amazing time at a cabin; spending hours in the sauna - singing Finnish folk songs and jumping in the lake thanks all to couchsurfing! Ate the most delicious salmon and cinnamon rolls. Heard an organ concert in Helsinki
GERMANY: Beer, bread and marzipan! The black forest was unreal, had the original black forest cake which has a ton of alcohol in it! Saw tons of WWII history and went to an epic metal viking bar in Berlin. Made it for Oktoberfest in Munich and listened to oompah music.
HUNGARY: My beloved heritage! Spent time with my grandma who doesn't speak any English, who cooked the most amazing food ever!! - duck, red cabbage, donuts from scratch, you name it! Soaked in the numerous thermal baths in Budapest. Drank wine in a wine cellar in Eger. Went to see a ballet at the most beautiful opera house in Budapest.
JAPAN: Our favorite country we have ever been to! The landscape - beautiful gardens, respectful people, amazing food - fresh sushi, noodle dishes, Japanese curry, ice cream crepes, matcha everything etc. Fast trains, easy to travel around and very safe. Went to a Japanese wedding, something never to forget! Walked on hot coals at a festival and went snowboarding in Hokkaido. Such a beautiful culture!
NORWAY: The fjords are amazing!! Stayed in our own bungalow in Flam, a beautiful town with thousands of surrounding waterfalls. There was tons of awesome viking history/artifacts. Fresh fish and brown cheese, but very expensive food. Gorgeous 800 yea old stave churches. Black metal!
PERU: Spent a month here for an ecotourism fieldschool. Did the Salcantay trail to see Macchu Picchu - incredible and rich Incan history. Had an epic time in the jungle; swinging from vines, climbing trees, drinking young coconut, monkeys, going on a night hike - seeing a caiman crocodile and a super poisonous snake!
SCOTLAND: Stayed in a cozy B&B in the beautiful Scottish Highlands near Glencoe. Visited castle ruins on the shores of Loch Ness. Tasty haggis and great beer!
SWEDEN: Went to an epic authentic viking tavern in Stockholm where we drank tasty meads and braggots. Ate traditional meatballs, lingonberry sauce and potatoes. Spent a night at an eco lodge where we picked wild blueberries, collected spring water, and fell asleep on furs with our own wood burning stove.
ROMANIA: We valued the old traditional way of life here: Horse and buggy, chickens running around, clothes hanging on the line. Go see a gypsy village at least once in your life! Saw Dracula's castle and went on an epic hike near the Carpathian mountains.
U.S.A: Went to Red Rocks, Nevada to go rock climbing near Las Vegas. Awesome climbing with good people. Camped out in the desert. Got pulled over by a cop because we had people with dread locks in the car haha.
Teach, Learn, Share
Sharing wisdom and stories. I want to learn about more cultures and languages. Having languages is really important, it gives respect towards that certain country/culture. We believe in sustainable tourism: you support the local community, you respect the environment, and you can teach the ecotourism components. Spend time in the outdoors - we came from the wild after all.
