About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Photograph my way through my new hometown of San Francisco. Find me on Instagram for photos @jfox.foto

ABOUT ME

Please take just a few minutes to read through my profile and "get to know me a little bit!"

More about us: I (Jeremy) come from a well-traveled family, one that loves building new relationships and constantly expanding horizons and viewpoints. I have lived outside of the USA for many years, most recently for three years teaching English in South Korea. What a wonderful experience that was! Traveling is my main source of joy, but I live by the idea that there is a major difference between "travellers" and "tourists." I met Teralyn in South Korea, and we have been together ever since. We have lived together in San Francisco since early 2019, and are loving it! We are excited to share it with you :)

PHILOSOPHY

Get out there and test yourself. Say yes to as many things as you can! Leaving your comfort zone is one of the best ways to grow as a person, to better yourself and, in turn, be better for others. So much love, kindess, and patience can come from loving yourself, it comes from within.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I ENGAGE IN COUCHSURFING

Now that I am not long-term traveling and living in one spot, I'm happy to host some guests from time to time!

Couchsurfing is way more than a free place to stay (though that certainly is a wonderful part of it). It's a chance to experience new things with new people, challenge your world views, maybe eat different food, listen to different music, and share some wonderful stories and advice.

Please don't send requests that are more than 3 weeks out. I won't be able to accept as I don't know my situation that far in advance. I'm not a hotel, after all ;)

MY WONDERFUL COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCES!

I surfed all over Western Europe during my 3 month trip, and it was an incredible experience, and I met some truly amazing people. After that I had a long hiatus from Couchsurfing, but picked it back up while traveling around New Zealand and Japan. There I had some of the most memorable experiences with such worldly souls/hosts. I'll never forget those moments!

Interests

My list of interests is constantly evolving and mutating, twisting and reforming, thanks in part to sites like Couchsurfing. There's a certain niche of people that flow through this platform, openminded people that are inspiring to engage with in conversation and observation. I've had incredibly meaningful conversation and connection with people I only just met on this site. It's bliss.

Love of travel, food, photography and boardgames! I got into photography in September of 2011, and was able to see a lot of Asia to practice and enhance my skills. Food has been a major investment of mine as long as I can remember. Some of my favorite foods include South Korea's samgyeopsal (fried pork wrapped in lettuce with kimchi, garlic, onion, and bean sprouts, etc), Singapore's fried duck soup, Spain's chorizo y huevos (chorizo sausage and eggs), and Vietnam's bún chả (grilled pork noodle soup).

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Malcolm Gladwell, Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore and Frank Miller, Joshua Foer, Tolkien (even if they read as textbooks), Scott Lynch, Paulo Coelho

Movies: List is endless but typically anything directed by Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Spielberg, etc. I'm a Marvel nut/anything sci-fi and superhero related, but love thrillers, suspense, drama, and Jordan Peele's recent two movies have me loving horror.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bungee jumping in Korea, too bad all the instructions were in Korean!

I also lived in a van in New Zealand for 5 months, traveling around and photographing the most beautiful country on Earth.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to practice my Spanish and get more into videography! I can teach you photography and how to fly a drone.

Countries I’ve Visited
