Music, Movies, and Books
Just read India Divided by Vandana Shiva!
As far as music goes, at the moment I'm into Bjork, Amon Tobin, Bat for Lashes, and things in a generally foreward-looking vein.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
First moments in India... Arrived in Mumbai as the sun was rising.
Teach, Learn, Share
I grew up in Vancouver, Canada, and it never ceases to amaze me. I think it offers a viable way of living a modern lifestyle in the midst of nature, with relatively little environmental impact. Eco-density all the way! Living in Tokyo had a profound effect on me, which is something I've realized in retrospect. It was too much to take in while I was there, but I think it rooted in me an interest in eastern values (or maybe just values other than those I grew up with.) So thank goodness for that. Now, I live in London, England, and it has been a puzzling experience. I will admit that the multiculturalism and generally incredible tolerance is something to behold, but I find the social standards and the sheer size of the city can be quite flattening. I'm sure in a few years I'll realize more clearly how it has affected me. But by that time, I hope to be somewhere else entirely, and just as confused! Here's to puzzles and wonderment!
