About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to see as much of the world as possible - on my bicycle. but first, finish my undergrad!

ABOUT ME

I'd like to think I'm a reasonably well adjusted bloke, not to say I don't have my wild and crazy moments, but for the most part I'm pretty laid back. I love everything to do with the outdoors, with company or a solitary sojourn into the woods. One peculiarity of note, is a habit of mine to pickup a hobby and run with it with great enthusiasm, only to find another, totally unrelated, and launch in head first anew. I suppose one thing it has taught me, is to appreciate the randomness, diversity and the unexpected, particularly with people, and above all, to keep an open mind. While I certainly maintain my own opinions, I crave opportunities to challenge my perspective and to revel in the passions of others.

PHILOSOPHY

Thoreau once wrote: "A man is rich in proportion to the number of things he can afford to let alone." I figure he is a pretty smart dude, so not a terrible idea to live by.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

On a cycling trip, a few years back, I got stuck in a pretty nasty electrical storm. Luckily, an elderly woman invited me into her house to weather the storm. Tea and biscuits and travel stories the whole evening. The warmest woman I have ever met!

Interests

Films of all sorts, poetry, urban design, critical mass, straw bale construction, yoga, renewable energy, permaculture, rowing, politics... starwars :)

Of late, I have become quite engrossed in the subject of ecology, and the layers upon layers of complexity and interconnectedness. An immensely fascinating field of study. I have also become completely enamoured with the game of chess. To be perfectly frank, I'm a bloody awful player, but love the game adoringly.

Authors: Zerzan, Palahniuk, Ginsberg, Kerouac, Neruda, Abby, Bakunin. Music: lately, I Have been listening to cinematic orchestra, Miles Davis, death from above, and paolo conte. but anything that makes your feet bounce on the dance floor!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last summer, I looked after my very own vegetable garden, for the first time in my life! What a divine experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm pretty handy as a bike mechanic. I could certainly get your old clunker up and running again. Love to learn more about cooking and organic gardening. But mostly learning what others are passionate about!
