About Me

CURRENT MISSION

On (music) tour in Europe, and was just turned onto CouchSurfing! Looking to fill some empty dates with house concerts.

ABOUT ME

Hey y'all! I'm really glad to be a part of this fine community. I'm a touring musician, out of Austin, TX. My address currently says Orlando, FL. because, while I am out on tour, I am using my parents address for mail!

As stated on Facebook:

Music is my utter consumption and I absolutely love it. I love creating and hoping that what I create relates to others. So far, some of my luck has been good, and I'm excited about all that I have learned and relating each lesson of life to song. I am so grateful for the unique places this career takes me and for the cool people I get to meet!

So far, I have created three full-length albums, each of which I am very proud of. Whiskey Songs and Prison Songs - 2005 (released 2008), A Damn Good Ride - September 2009, and I Keep On Livin', But I Don't Learn - June 2011. I have been blessed to work with some incredibly talented people to create these works of art.

I currently reside in Austin, TX, one of the absolute finest cities in the world. I love Austin, TX. Yes, it is weird, and that kicks ass. I love living and performing all around Texas. I love the random, small town gigs that turn out to be awesome. In the near future, I will be relocating to Nashville, TN, in order to further grow as a songwriter and peformerr. I will still spend quite a bit of time touring in Texas. I also plan to tour and perform internationally, regularly, for the rest of my life. I am doing my first European tour in Summer 2012 and I can honestly say, it is the most excited I have been about anything in a LONG time!

I was born and raised in Florida, and did a short spell as a boy in Georgia. I've been a Texan since April 2007. I was blessed with two amazing parents, and a brother who is as good a friend as they get. He now has a wonderful family of his own. I am very, very grateful for my family.

I LOVE history and the world. I find other countries' politics interesting. I go to bbc.com and other sources because, unfortunately, our news sources don't cover the rest of the world very much.

I love the evolving culture, and I strive to take note of the habits and tendencies of the previous generations. I love watching historical movies and shows like Mad Men. Mad Men is the finest show ever created and I can't wait for the new season!

I find it ridiculous when people laugh at the people of the past because they consider them ignorant and us "enlightened". I promise, people will laugh at us the same way in 50-100 years. If you think your ideas will not be laughed at, I assure you they will be hilarious in the future. I value friendship far more than politics, and therefore, I tend to refrain from rambling on about my opinions. I have never seen a staunch right winger and a raging liberal get in an argument, and one of them walk away going "You're right, my bad, thanks for the enlightenment."

I am very interested in the year 1989 - the fall of the wall and the end of an era. I love our history and European History. I am intrigued by Ireland. I often compare it to Texas in its support of homegrown, organic music. I enjoy this complex island very much and I am very happy about the peace in N. Ireland. 14 presidents can claim their roots in this glorious little piece of land. The ruins of ancient Rome are amazing. Standing in the Colloseum and looking around is something that will change your life. I look forward to doing it again.

I like challenge, and love feeling challenged intellectually. Unorthodox ideas are very exciting! I like pondering the Universe, life before and after man, the "War on Drugs" vs. legalization, nature vs. nurture etc... I believe in having an open mind. Listening is baller.

I like *Scotch Whiskey, *Craft Brews, Steak, Red Wine, Espresso, Coffee, Energy Sodas, Cheese, Sushi, Thai Food, Guinness, Home Slice Pizza and beers served in containers as large as my head. I am a BBQ fan and believe Texas brisket is the finest in the world. However, Southern FL/GA/TN sauce on pulled pork is glorious as well. I like Black's BBQ for TX and Sonny's for FL. *I am very much looking forward to visiting Scotland and Belgium for the first time!

The song Dixie makes me choke up as does the Scottish tune, Loch Lomond. I enjoying learning about, and considering the lives of people before and during the Civil War. I empathize with the South, and think most circumstances of secession are misunderstood. Remember the the victor writes the history books. Deo Vindice.

Also, I deeply, sincerely admire Abraham Lincoln. More than anything his balance of the people around him is amazing. I honestly think he (and Robert E. Lee as well) did what he thought was right by his own moral compass. Did you know Lincoln was agnostic? Did you also know that he did by historical accounts, his voice was not deep, but actually fairly high-pitched?

I value physical fitness. I thoroughly enjoy running at night, and challenging myself with random things like doing more pull-ups, running a faster mile or lifting more weight. Mostly, it just makes me feel better and helps clear the head. I have sneakers for dirt and sneakers for pavement now.

I like laughing and spending time with funny humans. I pity the serious. I love unique views, stories and interests. I am a WASP mutt, and damn proud to be primarily German, Irish, Scots-Irish and Welsh. I mentioned I like beer? My parents lived in Erlangen, Germany for three years and I have had the pleasure of visiting the fatherland a number of times. I think everybody should take an interest in their unique heritage. I strongly value learning from other cultures and different kinds of people. People are cool. Be cool to them.

The steady homogenization of the world sucks. I dig seeking out the unique, and I love being around other people who do that as well. I strive to support Independent Business. God Bless Dublin Dr. Pepper.

Dave Chappelle is hilarious, Mitch Hedberg was hilarious. George Lopez is not funny.

I am very blessed to have some very cool people in my life. I have a lot of good friends and a few great friends that keep me sane.

I am so very grateful for my family, friends and fans. Sincerely.

Music is Amazing.

PHILOSOPHY

Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right.
Just be cool.
Be nice.
Its always too early to quit.
Whatever the mind can conceive, it can achieve.
Life is great!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, I am seeking house concerts. When I return to the USA and settle into my new home, in Nashville, TN, I will eagerly be hosting people from all around the world.

At my home, in Austin, we frequently had guests for festivals like SXSW and such. I have just been advised of this amazing community and I'm grateful I found it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just got started! I have surfed on the couches of Suse Notrott, in Kiel, Germany and Alvaro Langenbach, in Zurich, Switzerland.

You can use them for a reference!

Books: The Secret (and books like that), Biographies of musicians, Kite Runner was really good... etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One? First thing that comes to mind is the Roman Colloseum. We also opened for Clint Black in front of about 5,000 people. Those were both pretty rad. I have been blessed to see and do a lot of cool things. I'm very grateful.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I can teach beginners something about playing guitar and singing.
I can teach musicians how to promote to radio and how to book gigs more effectively, as well as build a presence.
I like history quite a bit, and am filled with random knowledge to pass along.
