One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 18 I moved to Vail, CO fresh out of H.S. where I lived for a year on my own for the first time... Before I moved there from my home town of Kansas City, I had met and made friends with a guy named Josh who decided to move to Vail with me... When we got there we both unemployed (even though I was supposed to have an apartment waiting for me and a job as a ski lift operator)... Lucky for both of us we met a fabulous women named Sara who was the secretary of the Vail Valley Baptist Church, who I am still good friends with today... She pulled some strings with the Pastor to let us sleep on the church floor for a few days until things started working for us... I finally got my apartment and job which unfortunately lasted only a month... I found myself once again with no place to live and sleeping in the spare bedroom for two weeks of a nice couple from church... I got a job working as a garage cashier at a local hotel and spa and got room and board through them... It was a pretty easy job, but after a few months I got laid off and got a job at Taco Bell... In between all of this I made ALOT of amazing friends and had got to experience things that have changed my life for the better... One such instance was they church had several missionaries from all over the US who came to some community work... I got to go with them on a church missionary tip to New Mexico where we helped educate and entertain kids on the reservations there... THAT was a major eye opener for me right there... I never knew that sorta stuff even existed... All in all it was one of the best decisions I have EVER made!!
