In the final three minutes of a Manchester United match, I drunkenly boasted that there was so little time left I could hold my breath for the remaining clock. I was challenged by some mustard-stained stranger behind me. My face may have darkened, my body may have writhed, but for that last two minutes and thirty-seven seconds, I did not breathe.
