About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To met people from different countries and cultures.

ABOUT ME

Christian male, single. Retired Railways signals electrician. Suffered TBI result motor accident and no longer drive. Don't drink or smoke. Enjoy company but not crowds. Never married and have no children.

I accept people as they are and make no judgements. I live a stress free lifestyle at a casual pace. I am not a sports fan but enjoy walking and cycling on a warm summer day.

PHILOSOPHY

To accept people as they are. To meet and enjoy the company of a diverse range of people, sharing and learning from each others background. To never make people regret having ever met me.

I want to make living a positive experience and to be able to share that experience with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to assist by being a friend and showing people my city from a local's point of view. Sharing an impression of the city different to a tourist itinerary.

Providing somewhere to sleep and use as a base for several days/nights. I am placed close to a Shopping Mall away from the hustle and bustle of Central City.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is my 1st involvement with Couch Surfing, although I have always provided accommodation, meals and a place to rest for friends and visitors where ever I have lived.

For 13 years I lived in the countryside, away from the city and my city friends used spend their holidays at my country cottage. Now my country friends sometimes spend the night with me when they come to the city.

Interests

My interests include: Computers, Linux OS, Internet, learning about life in other countries, customs & cultures. In my spare time I am Volunteer English Teacher to University Students living in Vietnam.

I enjoy baking bread, cooking and am currently looking forward to riding my bicycle daily for exercise . It is about 15 years since I last rode a bicycle. Due to recent poor health I have a new eBike and am looking forward to new adventures.

Music, Movies, and Books

Any movies with Whoopi Goldberg, Loius Gosset jnr. or Johhny Depp. Traditional Irish, Celtic and Maori music. 50's & 60's Rock N Roll and music from the 70's & 80's. Mystery & Adventure, Crime, Detective, Spy and the Sea. I have no favourite author.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Surviving a near fatal motor accident in 1970, where I was given less than 3 months to live and told that I would never walk again. Once out of hospital after a coma and surgery for TBI, I was employed as a Railways Electrician for 17 years before accident related medical problems ended my working life.

Despite my age, health and being unable to work since 1987, I still manage to do all of my own shopping, cooking, laundry, gardening and most of my housework unaided.

Teach, Learn, Share

Basic Cooking and life skills. Living on a budget and enjoying life with limited funds.

I would like to learn about food, cooking, culture and customs of other countries. Am particularly interested in Rice & Wok cooking.
