About Me
ABOUT ME
Born and bred in Belfast, Ireland, before moving to London for university. I enjoy camping, hiking and being outside and active in general. I'm outgoing and social, never shying away from a good night out. I enjoy a good drink or two (who doesn't?) with decent company and good music, something both Belfast and London have been good at providing.
I commenced a cycle tour in Feb 2015 starting from Belfast, making it as far as Istanbul before turning back. While on my tour I worked for periods in Venice and in Austria during the ski season.
PHILOSOPHY
Work to live, don't live to to work.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have spent 10 days walking from ~Linz, Austria, to Prague,Czech Republic, where I stayed with some families along the way. One interesting stay was with a family that spoke no English, and myself and my friend, who spoke no German/Czech. Communication was made possible only by gestures and made for a memorable and highly heart-warming experience.
More recently I did some couchsurfing in France in early 2015. A great experience and I was able to meet some incredible people.
Interests
I was in Scouts from a young age so I'm into camping, hiking, adventure, etc., and this thirst for travel, adventure and complete freedom is probably the main driver for attempting my expedition.
I'm a keen player of sports, and captained the Imperial college Gaelic football club. Before uni, I played club basketball in Belfast. A commuter cyclist that also does the odd ride in nice weather. Much rather playing sports, as opposed to watching it, though if it's on, I will watch it.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy a good war film, particularly WWII, though really into anything other than romance and scary films.
Music taste is hugely varied, and I enjoy a little bit of everything from trad to techno.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Walked ~220km between Linz, Austria, and Prague, Czech Republic in 2011 on a miniscule budget of ~£10 per day between two. Great experience and it really allowed you to see both countries as we were away from the big cities for the most part. Another great aspect of it was some of the people you met along the way and the kindness they offered to complete strangers.
Travelled quite a bit in Spain with my family. One of the highlights was the Alhambra Palace. Seen quite a bit of Europe over the years, and I think I'd have to say Austria is probably my favourite spot, primarily because of the natural scenery and the people.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a little Irish, but haven't spoken it in years so I've lost quite a bit of it. Although, I would love to get reacquainted with learning new languages (just a basic knowledge) as I feel a lot of people are too dependent of people knowing English in other countries.
What I can share in return is a bit about Ireland and the Irish culture.
