About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn about myself. To not regret life. To discover the world on my own terms and understand the people of the world. Everyone has a story behind their lives, regardless of how boring they think their life might be. I'd like to be the listener to those people, to share happiness, to live and learn and love as cliché as that may be.
ABOUT ME
The short: An outdoorsy foodie adventurer.
I just want to expand my map! http://goo.gl/maps/avZRe
The long: For a long time I was so afraid of talking to people and putting myself out there, to even just order something from a restaurant or ask a person for help when I needed it. I never wanted to burden anybody or disturb anyone in the slightest. This still comes up in my life sometimes, but Im working on it! Slowly :)
Someone once told me they live their life with the question why not. If an opportunity arose, they asked themselves why not. I've since tried to live similarly and through it ive done things I never imagined. Trying to swing dance, salsa, (I'm horrible at dancing, a good friend of mine says I dance like a gypsy), painted for accommodation even though I've never painted anything artsy before, pub crawls with strangers, learning how to drive manual on the left, hitchhiking through new zealand! ! Ahh just so much. I'm forever grateful, and absolutely will follow where the wind blows. Because what is life without a little chance after all. Right now I barely know where I'll be sleeping two days in advance, let alone what I will be doing and i love it.
PHILOSOPHY
Keep an open mind, and don't get stuck in something/someone you don't at least enjoy
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I wish I participated more! I seem to go through phases of couchsurfing, honestly. All in all, I just want to travel and see beautiful places and eat good food. I've stayed with a few people now on the West Coast, and talked with a few more learning places to eat and especially places to drink. It's pretty fun going to meetups and events, but I think I prefer small groups and one on one interaction more.
I enjoy couchsurfing because I've found it to be a much better traveling experience when you can meet new people and learn what they have to share about their home. It just feels so personalized and makes me feel like I can understand a place more.

Music, Movies, and Books
When I was a little child, I would go to the library every Sunday and borrow stacks of books. Needless to say, this lead to many favorite books over the years. I tend to like books that are beautifully written, reminiscent of poetry, postmodernism style I suppose. Stream of consciousness sometimes.
The last amazing book I've read was Blindness, which was just like ugh a squeeze to the heart.
Other favorites include The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Murukami, Lolita, The English Patient, Zadie Smith novels, etc.
I also have a special place in my heart for The Wheel of Time series, even though I still haven't finished it. I started it when I was young and grew up waiting for book after book and then the other died on me and we had to wait years for a ghost writer. One day I'll start the series again for the third time..
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Horseback riding through a coffee plantation in Honduras, galloping through rivers and picking exotic fruit off the trees on the property along the way.
Also, the Kalalau trail on Kauai! Absolutely beautiful, just be careful of the red hill in the rain.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love being able to cook for people and sharing food, seeing/making people happy in this way. Bonus if they can also cook, especially things that I don't know how to because I find it very exciting exchanging techniques and just observing how other people live their lives.
Regardless of if I'll have a couch available in my next home, if you'd like to meet up for food or to get out to a hike just let me know!
