ABOUT ME
Hello!
I'm Jerry Arlen Jo, currently a student at the University of Michigan studying History and Anthropology. Before I went to college, I had a career as a touring musician around the US and Canada which allowed me to truly get to know my home country. Travel is in my blood as an artist and continues as part of my academics.
I maintain a blog at JerryArlen.Com with my music and my travels. I love music, history, culture, board games, new experiences and amazing food.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is short: about only what you can touch and what touches you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love the community of travel and I'm always traveling on a budget. Seeing a new city as a local is an essential of travel.
I don't really have much of a chance to host, as I currently live in a city that doesn't attract much tourism, but I except visitors whenever available.
I'm hoping to truly utilize couch surfing to make my travels better. Even though I've been a member for awhile, I still haven't gotten a chance to really use it. Let's change that!

Music, Movies, and Books
"Wish You Were Here"- Pink Floyd
"Love In The Time Of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
"1491" & "1493" by Charles Mann
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My music has been distributed around the world and I've played over 1,000 live shows.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can play guitar well. I also know history and culture well. It's not strange for me to be filled with an incredibly passionate story of a place.
I always want to talk to you about your country and your ideas. There is more to life than guide books or wikipedia articles. Those are just official accounts; background information. Tell me about your experiences and thoughts.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am polite, respectful of boundaries. I realize that you host me out of kindness and curiosity, which I am very grateful for. When traveling, if you want to hang out and see your country through my eyes, I'd love that. If your just the type with an available sleeping spot, I'm cool with that as well. My goal is to be as polite of a guest as possible.
If I'm coming to your city, it's because I'm interested in the history, food, culture and people. I may have ideas of what I want to see, but your advice and information is valuable.
I am a big guy, at 6'4, so be warned. I don't mind cramming into a small space (tall guys get used to it) but if your the type that worries if your couch will be long enough, I may need to as well.
