CURRENT MISSION

I am really excited to see more of the world, and I have to do so on a tight budget! I love nature and I love trying new things, meeting new people, and just learning and growing.

ABOUT ME

I grew up with two older brothers in northern New Hampshire in a tiny town (800 people) until I was 12 years old and I moved to a slightly bigger town (5,000 people) on an island in Washington State.

I work on whale-watching boats there and I have had many other jobs, like being a zip line tour guide, working at the Whale Museum in my town, and working at some of the restaurants there as well. I lived in southern Virginia for one year, too, so I have moved around a little bit.

I love to travel! I did Semester at Sea in Fall 2013 and I am about to begin SEA Semester this Spring, where I will be sailing around the South Pacific islands for 7 weeks for school. For SAS, the first program, I went to 16 different countries on 4 different continents over the course of the semester. I love to talk about my experiences there, and I'm excited to have more!

I also am a youth group leader with Wyldlife/Younglife, which is a Christian youth group that I get to be young girls' mentor through. It has been a HUGE part of my life the last few years.

I go to school at Whitworth University, a small, Christian, private, liberal arts university, studying Environmental Sociology and Youth Ministry.

I LOVE the environment! I was voted the biggest tree-hugger in high school, and I really try to be.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a Christian, so I believe in knowing God and living life in such a way to bring his Kingdom to everyone I meet. That entails loving everyone, doing unto them as I would want them to do unto me. I have a really open mind and I try to see the best in everyone. We are all God's children, and he loves each and every one of us!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

One amazing thing I have seen, is I have gotten to see the interactions between orcas in the Southern Resident Orca population.. between mothers, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, grandchildren, etc. I have been able to see all sorts of behaviors: breeching, spyhops, tail slaps, porpoising, pectoral fin slaps, feeding, etc. And I have been able to watch whales as they have grown up over the last 9 years. It's really special to learn so much about one community of whales!
