About Me

I have a degree in Graphic Design, but currently my interests lie in documentary work and oil painting.
I come from a family of generational farmers; I grew up with food in my backyard, picked by hand or off the back of a truck; I learned from the best doctors in the country about nutrition; and with a brother who's an accomplished Chef, food is at the heart of every thing I do. Daily, I practice a whole-food plant-based nutrition, but I'm not obtuse. I am not limited by my choices and I don't impose them. I like to play about the world. Athletics, board games, music, museums, what have you, I'm having a good time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm working on a couple of documentary projects across the country and traveling to find stories I wouldn't be able to find on the internet. This involves going to a lot of places where I don't know anyone, or my schedule changing rapidly. Being an artist has its shortcomings of a stable income, and often I'm just trying to get from one place to another. As this is a new venture, I'm also new to couchsurfing and therefore not yet verified. We can probably arrange a way to meet somehow beforehand to introduce ourselves first.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Why limit to just one? I lost over half of my body weight through food and athleticism. I recently jumped in a hole filled with ice water cut out of a room filled with ice as part of an installation performance at Mass MoCA. (A Cold Hole, Taryn Simon, 2018). I met one of my musical heroes and we shared our first hot air balloon experience together.

Teach, Learn, Share

I grew up in a small farming village, and learning across the country about how innovative technology sustains new and generational small farmers in a big-agriculture society. I'm also meeting up with people working on other documentary projects, and creating a network across the US to connect people with ideas that transform a new creative economy. My backgrounds in work have led me across different professions, including music performance, radio, clothing retail, coffee, chocolate, web design, graphic design, marketing, sustainability and civil engineering, painting, children's mental health care, and adult day health care. I have volunteered with food organizations and community action programs. I have worked with my state legislature to create change for the underserved, specifically those with brain injury, disability, and homelessness/food insecurity.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have some amazing stories of my travels, I love to cook with people, I make a great museum buddy and companion in exploring new places, and offer that in exchange for kindness and a place to sleep.
