About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live life. Travel with purpose. Take it all in. Have a blast.

ABOUT ME

I spent the last 2 years as a volunteer coordinator in Nicaragua and Nepal for BaseCamp International Centers. I started working in their marketing department in 2006, and it went from there.

Now I'm back in Van, but no couch yet unfortunately... Should have a new place by Jan 09.

PHILOSOPHY

Live to travel. Travel to live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

BaseCamp International Centers provides a unique couch surfing experience. We have volunteer houses in 7 countries! If anyone is traveling in Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Ghana, Tanzania or Nepal please email me for more information about BaseCamp Centers in each country. (jesi@basecampcenters.com)

We allow travelers to connect and hang out with volunteers who are currently living and working in the developing world. We try to make our house as culturally authentic as possible, and often organize house activities, city tours and weekend trips to great places!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I was running the BaseCamp Center in Kathmandu, Nepal, I met some really cool people through CS. Some stayed at the house and hung out with the volunteers, and some I just met up with for drinks.

I found everyone I met to be super cool and trustworthy.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can learn a lot from each other. BaseCamp allows like-minded people to share experiences, struggles and accomplishments of living and traveling in the developing world.

One piece of advice: Interact with the locals in any country you're traveling in. You'll be amazed at all the insider info you can gather - from political viewpoints to the best bar in town!
