Overview
About Me
I'm a 'glass half full' kind of girl who chooses to see the bright side of any situation, even if it's to a fault. I'm passionate about volunteerism and community service, and I think one of the most powerful characteristics one can possess is kindness.
Another passion is regenerative living and exploring ways to leave as little of a negative impact on this planet as possible. I strive to live a life of "waste not, want not". For 5 years, I have been consciously trying to decrease my general consumption, phase out my use of plastic (especially single-use plastic) and sequester 'used' plastic from entering the biosphere by making ecobricks...ecobricks are awesome you should check it out... https://www.ecobricks.org/what/
I'm madly and deeply in love with my husband and twin flame, who is also my main squeeze and travel partner...you can find his profile here: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/brad.walker
My family and friends mean everything to me, and I love to make connections and meet new people as well. I'm naturally an introvert, but I have an immense comfortability with revealing myself and being open to others in a smaller or more one-on-one type of setting. However, I've learned to challenge myself and try to embrace interactions in group gatherings/parties rather than retreat or feel self-conscious.
My dad is my hero and one of my best friends.
I have an innate need to be active and outdoors, so I especially like to focus my non-working time around hiking, biking, kayaking, hula-hooping, weight-lifting, running, playing on playgrounds, sometimes just laying in the grass, and seeing as much live music as possible. But, I also appreciate the home-body quiet days of listening to records, reading books, writing in my journal and just hanging out with Brad.
I'm just a gypsy girl trying to live the good life everyday.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My husband, Brad, introduced me to couchsurfing in 2017. My lifestyle has permitted me to be a host more than explore being a guest thus far, but I am hoping that will start to counter-balance with more of our travel plans. I love this platform and the openness that exists for 'people helping people' without a cost agenda in mind. I also think the best way to experience a new place is by connecting with people who live in that community and couchsurfing is exactly what allows people to do that.

Music, Movies, and Books
I celebrate all types of music, from bluegrass to rock'n'roll to dubstep to classic country to pop to folk and list goes on and on. I'm a sucker for swing music and big band jams of the 20's; slow jams/R&B especially from the 90's like Keith Sweat, Boys2Men, 3LW, etc. I also love anything I can dance to, with a hula-hoop or solo...which means, if it has a good back-beat but the lyrics are trash, I'm probably still going to enjoy it regardless.
A few artists that I am in a constant state of love with: Billie Holiday, John Craigie, Rising Appalachia, Possessed by Paul James, Incubus, Trevor Hall, Paul Simon, Etta James, Sam Cooke, The Drifters, Tyler Childers, Nora Jones, JJ Grey & Mofro, Lizzo, Trampled By Turtles, Beyonce, Amy Winehouse, Leon Bridges, The California Honey Drops, Blues Traveler, Houndsmouth, Lumineers, Nina Simone, TLC, Aliyah, and the list seriously could go on and on.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent 10 days kayaking on the Sea of Cortez with 14 women...camping/cooking with only the supplies/food we brought on our kayaks, travelling without technology, and sleeping on the beach every night.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach or offer professional insights into:
ecobricks
hula-hooping
Lifeguarding/CPR/First Aid
...and in a more general sense, I can share my experiences, beliefs and interests while also wanting to learn about the same from others.
I really want to learn a second language, so I'm at the beginner stages of learning Spanish.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I've got a positive attitude and I can listen for as long as you like to talk, while also being fully open and supportive of doing our own thing and just being quiet. I'm normally travelling with at least one hula hoop so I can offer tips, tricks and some visual entertainment if you're into flow arts. I also pick up after myself and can knock out dishwashing and light cleaning in no time. I'll sleep absolutely anywhere, I try to get along with everyone and I love listening to all types of music.
