About Me

Canadian girl who doesn't really live in Canada anymore.
The last five years I have been traveling and working around the globe. As most travelers can attest it is a fairly addicting lifestyle. One thrives for new cultures, new people, places and food.
I enjoy the outdoors mainly mountains and oceans. I enjoy cities but prefer smaller and quieter villages.
I attempt to have a non rushed, anxiety free lifestyle; therefore I like to consider myself a generally chilled out individual.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoying meeting "real" people. To talk about things other than- where are you from? - where were travelling last?- or cheap South East Asia is-
I want to discuss each other's passions, talk about local and global politics, learn different languages and cultures. I want to teach about my culture and learn about yours.
Couchsurfing is a first hand way to meet a local and I like that.

Interests

I am really into science- mainly ecology and biology. I can riddle off interesting ( well at least to me) antidotes concerning plants and animals.
We live on a beautiful planet so I am passionate about preserving it. Any form for sustainable living and eating are a huge interest to me.
Most activities I enjoy are outdoors- hiking, biking, scuba diving, swimming, ect.
I also really enjoy yoga (hatha mainly) and a good meditation.
But a big passion of mine is traveling, I believe with the rise of globalization and consumerism the diversity of local culture as we know it are disappearing . So for the next few years I am trying to explore it while it still remains.

Music, Movies, and Books

Whoa! This is kinda hard to answer.
Let's start with Books, as reading is a wicked pass time
A Scared Balance by David Suzuki changed my life, I decided to study Science instead of Art. Shortly after Rachel Carson and Lois Gibbs solidified that choice.
Rhinton Mistry, Amitav Ghosh, Camillia Gibb and Arundhati Roy rocked my soul, showing how beautiful but heartbreaking life is.
Bill Bryson always makes me laugh out load.
Then I have a deep love for the Canadian authors: Margaret Atwood, Mordecai Richler, Rupi Kaur and Farley Mowat.

Music:
Well this is ever changing. I like a little and hate a little bit of everything. Really depends on mood, place, season and people.

Movies:
American Blockbusters are awful. I like a good foreign film that tells a decent story. I think it is interesting how different countries perceive film as a medium of expression and how and what they choose to express.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One! Well I must admit I have done a few. But I will tell you one, and then we can exchange glamore stories over a beer.
Sat on the kitchen floor prepping veggies with a Syrian mother in Wadi Rum desert in Jordan teaching her English and her teaching me Arabic while her baby sat in a box of potatoes. We called her Princess Potato.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love geeking out and talking about the environment, politics and the global social structure. So can offer some good conversation if that is what you're into.
