About Me

Hi, my name is Jess and I am a 26year old from New Zealand. I am a freelance Graphic Designer and Yoga Teacher, currently exploring Europe with one of my best friends. I'm a bit of a hippie, total sun baby and interested in new experiences and meeting likeminded people. I enjoy music festivals and socialising, a decent glass of red wine and interesting, worldly conversations however I am also super chilled out and can think of nothing better to do with my day than lie on the beach in the sun with a good book. My mind is never too far from the ocean. 2019 is my 'dream year', the year I tick a bunch of things off my 'to do' list.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travelled for 11months through Central and South America a couple of years ago and didn't use CS and wished that I had. I think it's a great way to experience the city through a locals perspective and to meet new people. I would also love to give back and do this in return once I am in a position to do so in my own country.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music | I do thoroughly enjoy music festivals and am hoping to get to a few while I'm in Europe. There really arn't many artists I listen to and don't appreciate on some level. I love alot of the music coming out of Australia at the moment - the likes of Ocean Alley, Sticky Fingers, Rufus Du Sol, Angus and Julia Stone, Tash Sultana and Lime Cordiale. I also love Dermot Kennedy, Matt Corby and Ben Howard to name a few more. Bonobo, Jungle, Odezsa, Alt-J - the list really could go on forever.

Books | I do love to read, but I don't have any specific ones that come to mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Brunei for 7 years during my childhood. I believe it really shaped who I am today and I have some incredible memories and built some lifelong friendships from it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Learn | My two main goals are to learn to surf properly and to learn how to throw clay to make my own pottery/ceramics. I want to learn more about different countries and cultures. I am also learning daily about myself.

Teach | I am a yoga teacher, qualified in the Hatha/Vinyasa practice.
