"Jessica Chuan is a creative, self-driven, family-oriented individual. Her early years consisted of charity fundraising and making a home business out of her passion for animal husbandry. An empathetic savant with a writer's flare, her passion for the written language has lead her to continue writing throughout the years. Examples of her writing include a public service announcement press release for guest speaker Assembly Woman Julia Brownly, of the 41sr District; who in turn granted Jessica Chuan the Assembly Award of Recognition for Inspiration and Admiration. Her poetry has won her the Martin Luther King Scholarship award. She also dabbles in amateur photography; her portfolio includes portraits of South African elephants.

After earning a degree at the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in Interdisciplinary Studies concentrating on Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, she took part-time jobs helping small businesses in accounting, sales, and marketing design while also learning user interface design on her own time."
