About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To do and to be!

ABOUT ME

I am 5' 8" tall, with short, curly, sun-bleached hair. My favorite thing to do is write, and when I am not writing, I absorb all life gives me. I spend my days running around like a maniac and then plopping down at the end to read a good book.

PHILOSOPHY

I think this was best phrased by a refrigerator magnet I saw once:

"To do is to be." ~Nietzsche
"To be is to do." ~Kant
"Do be do be do." ~Sinatra

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, I just surf; but once I acquire a place of my own I want to host!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just recently finished up a stint couchsurfing a couple of places in Dallas, Texas! 'Twas a fantastic introduction to the sport and I am officially hooked.

Interests

My hobbies include writing, playing various instruments, reading, singing, hiking, swimming, water polo, canoeing, playing with animals, cooking, learning Spanish, and many other things. Batteries sold separately.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite book: The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux

Favorite song artist: Regina Spektor

Favorite band: Nickel Creek

Favorite movie: Sweet Land (followed closely by.... oh, you know, Star Wars)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

SO MUCH. Once I met a man who had walked all the way to Nashville from Tampa, and even then helped me find the Greyhound station. Hiking into the Grand Canyon. Cannon Beach, Oregon. The Louisiana sky. Waking up in my tent one morning to the sound of male raccoons duking it out. The smell of sophisticated chaos in a Las Vegas casino. California redwoods. Portland in late October. Sunsets in upstate New York. A Dunkin Donuts every 3 blocks in Boston. Seals at the beach in Carmel, California tossing around in the huge waves. A humble bluegrass band in a small city bar in New Orleans.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to discuss writing, especially fiction and free writing. I am also at a place now where I feel confident teaching it.

I also have become quite an authority on unschooling and alternative education.

I know a lot about music, but a great percentage of that is intuitive. I'm definitely willing to have much bonding time discussing elements of music and jamming.

The Spanish language!! I began learning Latin American Español a few months ago and now I'm obsessed. Let's talk in Spanish. Or about Spanish. Or travel to a Spanish-speaking country. Or at least go out for Mexican. =D

As for learning... I am basically up for anything you have to teach me! I'll let you know if I'm not interested. Like, calculus or computer insides... I'm not overly interested in those. But yeah, let's talk about everything!
