About Me

I am easy going. Love to listen to people's stories, learn people's culture and heritage. I also like to discuss ideas and will likely play devil's advocate just for sake of argument in the name of progress.

A new hobby of mine has been Swing Dancing (Lindy Hop, Blues, Balboa). A goal I set for myself is to go dancing in every new place I visit. I would also love to learn new dances, especially traditional dances.

I was born and raised in the Province of Quebec, Canada having lived in Sherbrooke and the suburbs of Montreal.

I currently live in Montreal. Before I lived in Kingston, Ontario, for school where I studied Urban Planning.

The first time I left the continent of North America was to go to India where I had the opportunity to work on a Heritage project in Pune. I then traveled Mumbai, Goa, Chenai, Pondicherry, Agra, Jaipur, and Delhi. Before this I had the opportunity to travel Canada and the United States.

FOOD! I love to explore new places via my belly :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have yet to fully experience couch surfing. I have experienced hosting people at my girlfriend's house. The experience was enriching and a lot of fun. It felt as though I got to travel to this individual's place of living without stepping foot outside my own city.

Whenever my friends and family visit Montreal, I absolutely love giving them a tour. Having studied Urban Planning in Montreal and being passionate about learning the stories of cities, touring cities is something I love.

Interests

Swing dancing, particularly Balboa as well as Lindy Hop and Blues. A goal of mine is to dance in all new places I explore. I am new at dancing in general but love to learn. I also want to learn traditional dances whenever possible.

Discussing histories, particularly urban histories trying to understand cities and the cultures which have shaped them and influenced its existence. I love to explore cities and loiter in public spaces. Learning people's favourite spots whether it's a little restaurant, café, park bench, viewpoint etc. There is no better way to learn about a city than from someone who lives and loves their city.

I love food. Sweet, salty and spicy. Veg and non-veg. Healthy and not so healthy. I love learning about places and cultures via food. Not a very good cook but love to learn. I am a great help in the kitchen. The least I can do is the dishes!

I can also be introverted at times, enjoying my alone time, loitering, wandering, reading, eating.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all types of musing. Lately it has been big band swing music for obvious reasons (I love dancing!). I also love discovering new bands, local music scenes, new styles. I am awful at remembering names and lyrics. It's as though every time I hear a song it is for the first time.

Movies: Casablanca, Pulp Fiction, Darjeeling Express, Amélie Poulin ...to name a few. I love movies... Maybe even more than books!

Only recently started reading regularly for pleasure. I look forward to hearing your favourite books and authors and sharing mine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Realized some childhood dreams by buying a boat, learning to fly, starting a landscaping business (working outside with nature).

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching what I know about cities, histories, and the basic step in swing dances!

I really want to learn what people think about their city, their histories.

Please teach me how to cook your favourite recipes!

I think we can share good times through discussions, explorations, and spontaneous acts of craziness (while remaining respectful)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to share my knowledge of Canada, particularly Montreal, teach the basic steps to Swing! And discuss with my new friends about what they love about where they live.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, India, United States
